I had a 4.7 tundra for 19 years, and as far as i know the coolant never has been changed. It was still good when i sold the truck in 2020.

I think its less than two gallons to drain and refill. Get price of OEM antifreeze on line . Go to your local dealer and have them match it. I think it comes out to $25 bucks. Cheap insurance I think. Im gonna do mine in August for its first anniversary.

    Every 5 years or
You are definitely due. It’s 5 years or 80k, if I’m not mistaken.

Between the oil and coolant thats formulated today isn't the green stuff your grandfather used back in the day, yet you can still get it. Our tacoma's use the forever stuff. Imo, unless you drive a lot of miles, or live in a very extreme climate there's no need to replace it. My old 2001 300k mile tundra was proof for me.

I think the Owners Manual says 100K for the first change and then every 50K thereafter.

Save some change and get some Valvoline Zerex. Nearly identical to SLLC. Been using it for many years in all of my Toyotas. I can usually find it on sale for around $16-$17.

I'm going to change it every 50k miles even for the first one

This is my own experience with just 1 mechanic, so take it with lots of salt:

On my Avalon V6 engine, my water pump was making noise and was slowly leaking around 90k miles. The mechanic told me that Toyota claims the factory filled coolant is good for 100k miles is BS, after 50k the coolant already started degrading and became corrosive and the corrosion slowly was damaging the bearing of the water pump. I asked why Toyota would make such claim to the 100k coolant, she told me something to do with EPA or regulation regarding the total environmental waste of a vehicle, so having to replace coolant early or more frequently would cost Toyota eco brownie points and resulting in more expensive environmental certification. Plus it'll make the car more appealing as of having lower cost of maintenance.

and I plan on doing the coolant flush myself so it's not that bad

In case no one has any brains, these are air cooled and do not have antifreeze.
Or was that a funny i missed, oh well.

If you look at your service schedule, toyota actually recomends changing these "lifetime" fluids at regular intervals. Dependent to driving conditions.
