I have a 2021, TRD Off-road with 7500 miles. It has Dick cepek 255/85/16. Its been regard to 4.88s. Fully transferable windshield replacement insurance for 5 years. 125K mile 7 year off-roaders factory insurance (if you break anything on the trail the dealership will get it fixed at no additional cost to you, excludes body work). SOS Rock sliders. Ceramic coated. Fluid Filmed. Offroaded 3 times. Roof rack.

I paid $45,500 for it. I see others sell for about $50K with a whole lot more miles and 2-3 years older. I want to get $53k. Should I list for $55? It is army green. If I trade in for a Tundra how much should I ask for?

edit: Forgot to add that it has a 2.5in lift. Bilstein 6112s in the front, and rough countries in the back.

Put your information into KBB trade in and go from there. Take it to carmax and get a 7 day quote that you can use as a bargaining chip at other dealers (they might match). In addition, Carmax is pricing add ons now like tents, suspension etc.

Depending on your state, and how sales tax is charged, you may realize that the dealer trade may be better...

In my state, when you trade-in, you only pay sales tax on the delta between the new ride and the trade-in value. If I do a private sale, I need to make sure that the private sale price covers the sales tax on the delta, since I will need to pay sales tax on the entire cost of the new ride.

It's worth what someone is willing to pay for it. List it for what you want to get out of it. If it does not sell, lower the price.

$53k for a non premium / tech package optioned truck, good luck my friend, but it is a crazy world right now, I'd say you'll be lucky to get $45k for it; a) mods dont add value b) that same truck can be allocated for $40k or less MSRP new with patience (unfortunately you overpaid for it new)

Unless you're willing to hold out for that extremely small group of buyers that wants exactly what you added on, your aftermarket items aren't worth much if any on the truck, and will bring more if uninstalled.
I don't see 2-3 year old Tacoma's going for $50k,,,,maybe for nearly new prices.

I'd guess 40-42k. Like it or not used is used or preowned and you'll have to find a buyer that wants those exact options/color. Someone could order a new truck with zero miles for less than what you're asking/want out of it. :crapstorm:

As a point of reference, I saw a brand spanking new 2022 Tundra CrewMax TRDOR fresh off the truck at a local dealer on Friday. Beautiful truck & I'm one of the weirdos who love the grille. They're asking MSRP = $56K + change.

I got it new for $40k, but I added the windshield insurance and Toyota platinum insurance.

Trade ins are a winning game.

    For the dealer

If they weren't, they wouldn't do it.

Your mods are worth about 30-50% of cost to a buyer, unless you find that niche buyer who wants to build what you have.

A trip to a good credit union will give you a loan value. Anything over that comes from your buyers pocket. Assuming they can qualify for a loan.

Insurance doesn't add any value. And also if you fuck it up on the trail, no way in hell Toyota is going to pay for a damn thing. Just FYI for your future self.

Just take it to Carmax and get an appraisal. Start from there. We purchased a 2019 Ford EcoSport back in 2019 for $21k. We drove it until it’s 25k miles. This past September, we got an online appraisal from Carmax. The car was appraised for $22k. Carmax told us to bring it to their lot. They gave us a check for $22k. Start from Carmax and see what they will give you.

Mods aren't worth anything. You'll do better and appeal to a wider range of buyers if you strip that stuff off and pitch it as a "like new" truck.

I'd guess around $40-$42k, given it's a non-premium OR w/out tech package. Hate to break it to you bud, but you overpaid for it. It's going to be tough to recoup your costs. If you find someone willing to buy it for $45k, take that money and run

List it on various sites for what you want for it and see what happens. If trading it in, you’re probably better off selling the custom stuff separately.
