No i am not how would I calculate for this ? Only thing I have done to account for the larger tires is compared the speed I am going according to the speedometer VS how fast my gps says I am going.

The marked distance traveled on the mileage counter for the odometer will show like 11% less miles than it should. So increase the miles traveled to the correct amount and then do the math.
This is the correct process for calculating MPG.
    Fill gas tank.
    Reset mileage counter.
Drive however many miles you want.
    Go to gas station.
Look at miles driven. INCREASE THAT NUMBER BY 11% BECAUSE THE ODOMETER DOESN'T KNOW THE TIRES THAT HAVE 11% MORE CIRCUMFERENCE AREA AND MARK 11% LESS THAN IT SHOULD. THIS MEANS: mile counter shows 200 miles
You multiply 200 by 1.11 to account for the tire size and see you actually traveled about 222 miles.
    Fill gas tank.
*The amount of gallons you put into the tank to fill right here, divide that INTO the corrected mile counter number.*
Let's say it was 12.5 gallons that went in just now. So:
200 increased 11% to 222 actual miles driven
Divided by the actual gas amount used to drive that far. You know this number because you just filled back to the start point of the mileage. It was 12.5 gallons
    222/12.5 = 17.76 MPG
You get the number of the greatest year in the history of our universe' existence :D:rofl:
But for real, I dunno if that helped, but that is the most accurate way to calculate actual mileage. The 11% number you get because the new tire size has 11% more circumference than the original that the mileage counter is programmed for.
Hopefully this is how you already do it, so you don't have to change anything and this is just confirmation lol:D

I have an 18.5 gallon tank too.

Light comes on when there's ~3 gallons left

Yours should be 18.5 too I would imagine

When I drive between Sacramento and Boise I fill up in Winnemucca Nevada 305 miles from Sacramento with about 250 miles left to Boise. The gas gauge reads a little or 1/4 so I could go farther but there is no stations between Winnemucca and Boise until Jordan Valley Oregon. I have been tempted to fill a couple of Jerry cans and go until I run out. Get better mileage going home. use a lot of gas climbing out of the Sacramento Valley over to Reno. Also when I when I do fill up it's not the crap California gas and I do notice more power and better economy. I most drive between 70 and 80 mph with cruse on. Last summer oldest grandson and I road tripped to Salt Lake City to visit Kindigit Design that trip 1100+ miles averaged 20.5 mpg. and this was at highway speeds. Around home with mainly city street 15-16 mpg with a light foot. 2010 TRD Sport double cab V6 and being a truck I don't really worry about mileage. Gas mileage we drive wife's Mini Cooper Clubman. 35+ at highway speed and much fun to drive in the mountains top speed that driven it at 140 indicated out in the middle of Oregon on way to Boise. Truck 115 indicated on Salt Flats last fall.

18.5 gallon tank...when the light comes on is about 240-250 usually.

With both tanks filled I can go between 480-500 miles. Both tanks carry 36 gallons of total fuel but for whatever reason I can’t get more than 16 gallons into the rear tank. So 34 gallons total, 31 gallons until the light comes on.

It's hard to say in this truck. I get an easy 300 out of each tank without the light coming on.
BUT I have 34" BFG KO2 tires, 3.56 gears, and a diesel engine...

Lol, no you are not...do some basic math. Post your miles between fill ups. I.e. you travelled x miles and you put in y gas. And be honest. Don’t rely on the onboard system to calculate it for you.

Except it doesn't. Saying you fill up at x miles only tells you or anyone else that you drive x miles and filled up. The fuel gauge is at best a rough estimate. It's not as measurement. Unless you run to empty every time, it's arbitrary. A gallon is a gallon every time. Knowing how many miles you generally drive between fill-ups is pretty much a normal thing but it's not usable as a diagnostic.

In a similar vein, I used to fly. Airplanes have fuel gauges, and fuel gauges MUST BE ACCURATE at exactly 1 measurement according to the FAA And that is when it's empty :).

A 96 Tacoma doesn't have an onboard system. And I do the math.

I guess I didn't give the old truck enough credit.
I had a business trip to NC yesterday. Filled up at my house and when I pulled back in my drive, I was almost on "E".

270 miles round trip. Running 285's, I equate that to roughly 300 miles with the tire adjustment. I'm not sure that's 100% correct.

That was also with high wind advisories up and back.
