Over the years I have amassed a gallon of change in an old Carlo Rossi wine jug. Its about full up to the handle, not a whole lotta pennies. Whats it worth in real money?

Go to the grocery store and pour it the Coinstar machine. They keep a small cut. Voila! Go buy a hooker with your earnings.

I'm sure there's a way to tell, but you'd have to be some sort of astrophysicist to calculate it. You may as well just throw it away.

I started counting one day and made it up to about $80, and that was maybe an inch of change out of the jug. Theres a good 8" or so of change, so im figuring i got at least $600 bucks or so.

f the coinstar, most banks will do it for free. not gonna let those bastards steal my hard earned change

Following averages, if there's an equal number of pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters, that works out to 10.25 cents per coin. Let's guess their is 50 coins per layer and maybe it's 100 layers deep, that's 5,000 coins.

    =$512.50

That's my guess. Yep, go buy yourself some sliders.

Let me know how much was in there.

    counter by weight:

    http://www.coincalc.com/

if your jar is all pennies, weigh the jar and enter 1 penny in the penny box. it does the calculation based on the weight of the coins. a penny is 0.005512 pounds.

I know for a fact that if you fill up the plastic cap over of a 100pack cd-r would be $100 and that is with mostly pennies because I filled it up and brought to a coin star but they end up jacking me $10. The second times I went back is only 1/4 of that plastic cap in quarters I got atleast $50 and of course they took $5 out of my coins for charges.
