I ordered a fluid film kit that included the spray gun and a gallon of fluid film. Yesterday I crawled under the truck and started applying the fluid film. I have a DCSB and after appearing to coat everything I used approximately 1/2 a quart.

First off, it is possible that I missed some locations. I plan on looking under different light conditions.

Second for those of you that use fluid film and the spray gun how much do you typically use to coat the frame? I'm just wondering if I applied it thick enough.

Did you get in the rockers, inner bedsides, inside tailgate and doors? First time application can take close to a gallon imo. Don’t be shy with the trigger.

I did not get it in all of those locations. I was a little concerned after hearing that it can cause certain rubbers to swell so I mostly focused on the frame. I will have to look into the best ways to apply it to the locations that you mentioned.

Pull all the rocker plugs and get in there, pull the door plugs and get a little bit in there and go over everything 3 or 4 times and you'll find some spots you miss from different angles.

I just did my whole f150 with about 3/8 gallon, but mines all aluminum body so I didn't have to go too crazy on the floor pans and whatnot

Also they make another attachment for spraying inside boxed frames and what not. The inside of the frame through any holes is also important to get whatever you can into them

Have you ever had any issues with the fluid film causing damage to any of the plugs?

I always remove all plugs and get inside the doors, in rockers, in the tailgate, up inside all fenders, inside the control arms, inside all the small holes that don't have plugs on the underside, all areas of the frame, including the top of the frame, all suspension parts, coat the spare rim, and even spray inside the engine compartment some. I have been doing this twice a year since October 2016 and have had no issues with anything. The underside of my truck is rust free. I am going to do it again this weekend. I bought the kit on Amazon that comes with the gallon of Fluid Film, the spray gun, and the wands for the spray gun and rattle cans.

Wow that stuff stinks when you burn it off the exhaust. I tried to avoid it as much as possible but got some on there. I was getting some pretty nasty looks from people at the gas station.

Yeah, cause gasoline smells like perfume, lol.

I fluid film twice a year, and a quart is about average for me on recoats.

Applying too much is kind of a waste imo.

Just try and get everything, I do my application at tire rotation time, removing the skid plate.

It's a learning process, but you are on the right track.

    TW ftw!
