I know how to check tire pressure so dont tell me to do that.

Has anyone had their TPMS system fixed? What was the cost?

    Thanks

Are you asking how much per tire to replace the tpms and reprogram or to just reprogram new sensors?

That's a hard question. May need 1 or more transmitters, may need programmed, may need reset. A local tire co. reprogrammed mine for $0.00, some, especially a dealer, will want $600 + for selling, installing, & programming new sensors. To answer your orig. question, somewhere between $0.00 & $1000.00.

Prices from rockauto for tpms sensors on my truck were $31 each(denso). A shop or dealership will charge more for them.
You then have to pay a tire shop or repair shop to pop the bead off the rim on each tire and replace the sensor. Might need to chk balance too. Guessing at $20/tire min. To do that. OR. Wait until you need new tires and do then.
Then they have to reprogram each sensor to your truck, that will be free to $??

I haven't done so, but I plan on replacing mine.
Autel MX 315mhz TPMS sensor $27 each
    Autel MaxiTPMS Programmer $68

The programmer clones the new sensors with the OEM ID codes; it will either read the OEM ID via proximity, or enter the ID code that is printed on the OEM TPMS sensor at each wheel. There is a good utube video on the process.

$285 for 5 new sensors and labor to install and program, if I remember right. I ordered the OEM sensors online and took them to Discount Tire. They charged me a mounting fee for each wheel and didn't charge to program. No re-balance either, and no problems.

I was just quoted $250 each for the TPMS Sensor and programing - I need 2 = $500 at the dealer. I have a slow leak in 2 tires and took it in for a rotation and to check for leak. Service writer says there is a rubber seal that gets dried out and leaks - truck is 2008 - over time - says when they take it out to put a new seal in the TPMS Sensor often breaks and has to be replaced - said it might not break but more then likely will. Sounds like a lot of $$ compared to what I read here. Any reply appreciated.

Gosh, it's amazing how often that happens at a stealership. Almost always.

Does anyone besides me think they can do fine without those damn things?
Even the lower prices some of you quoted seem ridiculous for something I don't want or really need anyway.
I'm not paying $250 per tire, that's out of the question.

I found on the service history of my truck that all TPMS sensors have failed except the spare.
I don't see anything there about them having been replaced, just a diagnostics fee.
I guess they must have turned off the light and/or reprogrammed the computer.
That suits me. My butt-o-meter will tell me when a tire gets seriously low.
But I check them for proper inflation fairly often anyway.

My wife is always bugging me about the sensors on her 2005 Highlander.
So I check the tires and tell her they're fine, forget about it.
Except she doesn't forget about it, the light bugs her.
So she goes and pays to have them checked.
    Numerous times now. :annoyed:

    [EDIT] Related question:
I'm getting an Ultragauge. Can I turn off that blasted light with the UG?
The light on my wife's Highlander, that is. :p
