Not sure how useful this data will be given how many variables go into insurance rates.

location, age of driver, history of claims, etc

I think it was $30 a month to add my 01 to my current policy for liability.

Yeah, this is going nowhere. An apples to apples comparison is going to be nearly impossible.

Not sure what it’s worth, so many factors go into insurance but 1500 a year, full coverage on my 2013, and wife’s 2016 Subaru Legacy.

I've worked in auto insurance since 1995. This is 100% accurate. What you pay has nothing to do with what someone else will pay. There's no such thing as "this company is expensive" or "this company is cheapest," other than how it relates to you.

"Full coverage" is a term that means virtually nothing. Deductible amounts, liability limits, medical payment coverage or PIP coverage limits, uninsured motorist coverage limits, etc...so many things that apply to what kind of coverage you have. And then there's the underwriting criteria that determines the rates you will pay for the coverages you have, and those criteria differ from company to company.

I thought about getting rid of collision and just keeping comp, but with my luck, soon as I took it off there would be a bang :infantry:

I get a kick out of the insurance companies advertising "only get what you need". Duh, i do that everytme i get insurance for anything - they make it sound like something special. In the end you buy what they package, with their deductibles, at the price they want. One really needs to shop each and every time your policy is coming due as companies, rates, situations change constantly - giant pain in the ass but can be worth the time investment.

There are very few “vehicle only” insurance companies, they are all linked to other larger companies that insure home, commercial, property etc. Every flood, hurricane, tornado or fire coverage dollar has to come from somewhere whether it is reinsurance or premiums. In CA where I live it is getting to the point where you are lucky if you can get insurance on your house. Most homes that burn in CA are over $500,000 in value and many over $1m. My commercial general liability doubled from last year to this year. Someone has to pay for all the disaster coverages. I was told by my broker that if the premium increases are not approved by the state regulators the vast majority of insurers are not going to write coverages in CA anymore, same in Florida and Texas. The basic idea of insurance to spread the risk among many company's, if there are fewer and fewer company’s and they get hit hard, then there is zero insurance or unaffordable premiums.

When I received my auto policy premium I called and asked and I was told that cars are much more expensive to fix now… I told them I dont drive any of those but was told that this is the way things are now. I did some research… a vehicle with ADAS has a front fender bender, replacing the front plastic bumper is one thing, making sure the painter only applies the proper thickness of paint over the sensors and getting the ADAS adjusted/configured is big $$$$. I was told the entry level machine to do the ADAS “alignment” is $30k.

Yup. Our company jacked the rates big time. So we switched. Insurance companies suck so much

Understand that I’m in a state with some of the highest insurance rates thanks to sleazy lawyers & uninsured drivers.

Your state is also very litigious, but that's due in part to the 1 year statute of limitations on injury and property claims.
