(2001 2.7ltr 4x4) In the process of greasing my drive shaft and was wondering if there should be any grease oozing out for the slip-yolk? Thus far I hit it about 6 pumps and don't see anything coming out anywhere. Don't want to mess around and blow a seal if there's one in there :(

The seal should be just a piece of rubber that raps around the shaft. When you are pumping the slip yoke with grease, you will eventually see the shaft move due to the pressure of the grease. At this point, that should be enough grease. You can always take your truck for a ride and do some errands and when you get back home, pump some more grease in. No worries if you are pumping grease in and some starts to come out where the rubber seal is, you'd want to get old grease out anyway. Hope this helps. Good luck

I learned the hard way, dont put to much in..it actually causes the drive line to bind, and the automatics dont want to shift out of park..

Dont ask me how..but when I had my 96, I pumped so much greese into the slip yolk one time, the truck didnt want to shift out of park..I had to take it on a ride to get it to loosen up...Weird, I know.

Jezuz, I have been doing this stuff for decades and havent seen that one yet....didnt know it would get that bad, but I dont pump it that far either.

I just pump it till I see the grease cap move, then I will stop, not trying to convert the thing into the jaws of life by turning it into a hydraulic bottle jack for christs sake, lol.

Funny part was the yolk kept moving..its not like it stopped and i kept pumping it..i eventually said wtf is going on here and stopped..i think i was doing an oil change also, so i went to start it up and move it back so i can clean up my tools and such, and it wouldnt shift out of park..i had to kinda force it to go, but it went..no problems afterward either

OK, gave it about 4 to 6 more hits until I saw the shaft start moving. Thanks
