My wife and I are house shopping and we are having trouble finding a 3 car garage in the house layout we want. We found a really nice house we really love however the garage is a 2 car garage with very little room on the sides and is about 252" deep. I have a 2011 Double Cab Long Bed so it's about 221" long maybe a hair longer so I won't have much room in the front of the garage for my tool boxes and work bench. I'm thinking it may have to sit outside during the summer so I can have work area in the garage and then in the winter clean up the garage and put it in. The other side it won't fit as there is a return vent spot that makes the garage shorter.

My Tacoma has sat outside since I've owned it since our last house was a one car garage and it wouldn't fit but didn't know how normal it was for all you guys to have it outside all the time.

Mine stays outside all the time. I just try to park it in the shade whenever I can.

sup I have my truck in the garage with my wifes yaris and on the side has has a dbl door fridge. where my wife parks I have very tight space when getting out of my truck but of course I have a short bed and right now the pic is kinda old but my front is almost touching the front where the furnace is the metal part. I have just enough room to go between it and when the garage is shut I have about 2 feet of room to go around

I'd try and park it in the garage if at all possible. It may be really tight with everything in there, but once you want to do any work in there, backing the truck out and into the driveway for the afternoon isn't too hard.

I think my biggest problem is, I like to keep it as clean as possible and I feel the amount of work you do to clean it all up and it sit outside over night it gets morning dew on it and ruins most of it :/

I could fit my double cab F250 in the garage but it just barely fits and is right up to the door. My Tacoma DCLB fits just fine on the other side with room to open my beer fridge.

I hate how modern homes are built. They have like zero garage space. The home just on the other side of us are in the $400-$600K range. If you look around there all the guys have their full size trucks parked outside. Makes me roll my eyes.

Do you have the option of making the garage larger?

I wish this garage had room on the sides like most do. Most have enough room to put tool boxes and such on the side. There would be no room for a garage fridge at all

Yeah, I noticed most full size trucks are parked outside. Our realtor also mentioned that her husband has to park his F150 outside since it won't fit in their garage. There is no way to make the garage larger.

it has space if I removed the shelf and my work gun bench on the wall I would have plenty space to get in and out and on the shelf I have foam strips so when I open I don't chip my paint which I already did lol

We looked at a house that had a 3 car garage and in front of the 2 car garage it was enough room to put a car sideways. I fell in love. The only issue was the kitchen was super small and the deck was small (tall too) so if we had family or friends over it would be cumbersome.

on my wifes side I built shelves to line up where the garage door track barely meets almost all the way across to the house door and have my fridge there my wife sometimes parks all effed up so I cant open full on the fridge but if I park it right it opens fine

This is why my must haves for a new home include space for a pole barn. Put a little drain in the floor and you got yourself an indoor space to wash the truck year round and tons of space for a workshop. :bananadance:

That's how my wife would be. I would need to protect everything for her swinging door too. I'm hoping she'll give a fuck when we get her a new SUV. Right now she just doesn't seem to give a flying fuck in the old garage.

yup houses these days who ever came up with the plan needs to get shot they suck at blue printing house builds I mean its inevitable that everyone was a open kitchen etc. but aside that I would just park the truck in and see beyond what you can and cant do. like the shelf, on the ground there is a 4 inch lip off the ground that meets witht eh dry wall and I put my shelves against the wall and put 4x4 blocks in the front to keep it against the wall so that kinda gave me lil room

My brother's wife parks their mini van in the middle of the two car garage because shes taken the mirror off the thing 3 seperate times trying to park on one side.

I don't know how you and him hold it together. I'd probably choke em to death lol.

oh and my wife parks all fucked up so I put a sticky thing on the ceiling after I parked the car straight and hung a 550 cord with a plastic thing on the bottom so it hit center of the windshield of the car so she can properly park

My wife isn't that bad. I'm slowly turning her into someone who actually gives a shit about their stuff. I've caught her slamming her purse into my truck when she throws it over her shoulder after getting out. That stopped quickly. Now that we are looking at a new vehicle for her and I'm telling her her car would be worth more if she had taken an ounce of care to it while she had it. She's finally starting to realize all this.

Cut & broke off stuff. Prolific ziptie and tape usage.
Sounds like I got lucky with my house. Fits Tacoma, Highlander, cabinets, grill, some lumber, a counter with a sink, and still has space to walk.
Do need to run a felt strip on wall where kids let door hit it sometimes.
