Getting my clutch replaced tomorrow due to the throwout bearing TSB. I have 92K and am thinking that is about the right time to get it replaced.

How many miles on your Gen 2 6 speed manual clutch did you have before it is replaced? If you have the original clutch then how many miles do you have now over 92K?

I think there is a dude on here with 350K on the original clutch. I swapped mine out with an URD stage 3 when I did the URD TOB fix at around 30K, and the clutch was still in good shape.

Probably have the only 2nd Gen with an 8274 in the world.
First one was at about 30K, second one still rolling at 170K.

im doing mine at 135k only because the truck is getting the frame replaced and while its apart im getting the URD TOB done. Rather do it now while its apart than later.

And the clutch in it still had plenty of life in it.

    You guys are killing me.

I don't think I have much recourse to get any compensation from the dealer. 92K and out of the extended warranty since January/2014.

Still if less than 30% left on the clutch then I'll be OK....

Dealer says I have 1/32nd left on the clutch. Flywheel has to be replaced as well. Sent a picture of the flywheel (below). Very good dealership. Additional $600 for the flywheel. Total now is $1800 - Ouch.

I believe the clutch wear based on the flywheel. I guess I better stop smoking the clutch. Tow a trailer and have an 800lb camper on as well.

Driving a Highlander. Very nice minivan.

Miss my truck. Should be done today.

It depends on how the truck was used.

It yours is a pampered pavement princess, it could last indefinitely. Construction work/towing will shorten their life.

One thing that kills 'um early is a driver who shifts too soon.

I did mine at 115,000 only because I was replacing the bearing with a URD kit. Truck has just turned 155,000 this week.:D

Clutch replaced. Seems better than new. Always used to catch high and quick. Now it catches 1/3 up and longer.

Dealer (Bobby Rahal) did a very good job. Had to rebuild the hydraulic due to rust at the junction box. All new gaskets, springs, bolts at the joints in the exhaust.

$1800 out the door - including flywheel replacement.

Why would you even remotely consider the Dealer giving you any compensation at 92K miles on a wear item? That makes no sense at all, even if it were still on extended warranty I do not think it covers belts brakes and clutch type wear items.

Even if the clutch disk had some life left it only makes sense to replace it while you have it apart for the bearing, due to the high tear down cost.

Drive it while resting your foot on the clutch pedal, it won't take long.

i've got 108K on my 5 speed. it includes the woman dumping the clutch at red line once while she was learning to drive. it was so bad smoke came out from under the truck.

but still. working good over all.

Replacing original clutch today at 115K+, mostly city/suburban driving, lots of stop and go. Sounds like that mileage is about par for the course.
