May be dropping out of our escrow, but perhaps into something a lot better, but the downside is its a little far from our jobs. How many miles do you drive a day and how often do you fill up? Believe it or not, serious answers may actually be useful.

12 mile total commute, up large hills both ways. fill up every week to week and a half. avg 15mpg because of the hills/traffic

I would have to drive 42 miles each way. Not sure if its worth it in gas and miles on the truck. Not sure if long freeway miles will outweigh long waits in traffic within the city.

Why would it matter how far we drive or what MPG we get? Doesn't mean you'll like it either way.........

Not to mention traffic is often a bigger deal than distance, both in terms of time and MPG.

That said, I always tried to live within 20 minutes door to door as my jobs moved me around. One period I had a 20 mile commute, but it could be 30 minutes or 1.5 hrs at certain times of day.

MPG varied by what I was rolling at the moment during the longer commute. From '64 Impalas to Accords, S10's and Nissan Z cars.

140 miles a day, fill up on day 3. But that's a 4.0l. A 3rd gen will be very similar. I could push it 3 full days, but why?

I do about 3,000 miles a month -fill up every 3 days or so. Some days may be two fill ups depending on how far I'm traveling that day. I usually fill up around 300 miles so I don't have to worry about running out of gas in the middle of nowhere.

80 miles round trip. If I car pool with my wife it's about 100. I fill up every 3-4 days around 350 miles. Took over two hours to get home today.

Though I'm headed out to CO so my commute will drop to 20 miles.

Our prospecting homes are about 43 miles away from our jobs. This info helps. Cheaper mortgage+super nice home but awful wear and tear and gas. Or pay too much for something 1/4 of the size and almost 25% more in cost and be local.

1 mile each way to and from work. Avg between 8 and 12 mpg in the winter. 13-15 summer. Lots of cold starts are kinda hard on it, it doesn't get up to operating temp... so sometimes I go the long way to let it warm up, the long way is about 5 miles. Just shy of 80k miles. Bought in April of 2007 with 3600 miles.

I commute 46. Drive 10 to a bus station in Southern NH and take a 1hr to 1 1/2hr bus ride to Boston.

26k-30k miles per year which averages out to 72-82 miles every day.
My fill-ups are very randomly spaced since my job site distances vary greatly.

10 miles one way to work. Wife & I both work at same place, sometimes we car pool - sometimes not. Keep gas tanks topped off each week.

One thing I have learned is you gotta love where you live. I say that because I drive 22 miles each way which isn't that bad but it takes over an hour each way. When we get a snow storm I've been on the road for 3+ hours.
I can say it sucks but once I make it home everything is A-ok. I could move closer to my job but I wouldn't love where I live. I would be moving further into the city and it would be a compromise.
You have to decide what your willing to compromise on. The commute or the place you want to live.

26 miles round trip. I don't pay attention to mpg so I can't comment on that. It's too inconsistent, along with my driving style. You can't dictate how to drive on TX highways... It's move your ass or be run over.
