How many keys did you get?

Hello,

recently purchased a 2021 Taco and the dealer informed me that there is a key shortage and as a result Toyota would send me a spare key. Today I have a single key fob and a valet key, I called Toyota because its been over a month and I have not heard from them. They told me that Toyotas only come with one key now and referred me back to the dealer.

Can anyone confirm that new Tacos only come with a single key fob?

 

I got 2 fobs and a valet key with my 2018.

 

2021 Premium package with smart entry. Got 2 remotes only.

Yup I do have emails from them stating that I would be contacted buy Toyota about receiving the second key. Contacting Toyota customer service was less than helpful and I am not sure why they are saying that new trucks only come with a single Fob.

 

Mine is a MT TRD pro...

 

Back when I bought my 2010 new, it came with 2 keys if that helps.

I got two keys, and no valet key with my brand new 2017 when I bought it.

 

Every vehicle I've ever owned - new and used - has come with 2 keys. "Shortage" or not, they owe you another one.

 

Always two.

Probably has to do with the chip shortage.

Last time I dropped my truck off at the valet... The 18ish year old got in and sat down. Looked at me and said... I can't drive this.. So my truck was parked right up front with the other nice German vehicles, it fit right in! Lol

 

Yup I just bought a new 21 Tacoma MT a few weeks back and I was only given one key fob and one valet key. They told me to sign up through the app and Toyota will mail me a second key. I am still waiting for that to happen lol. We will see I suppose.

 

I only got one with my 19 and they said they lost the other....

They said they would mail me one.

3 months later i demanded they make me one, picked it up next day

 

Got mine about a month ago

2 fobs and 1 valet key

 

I got 2 smart keys and 1 actual key with my 2021 Pro that I just got.

 

I asked my dealer, and they said that smart key equipped trucks (which your PRO also is) is coming with 2 fobs (narrow key inside fobs) only and no other key. Guess they shortchanged me

 

My 2017 has 2 key fobs; 2 keys, one in each key fob; and then one more external key.

 

Yeah you should get a valet key too. Reach out they’ll send you one. Need that little code on the silver tag on one of the fibs even though they’ll have your vin.
I got 2 fobs (w/tailgate & door key) and 1 valet key.
