Hello, does anyone know exactly how many gallons of fluid should enter this cooling system? I think 8 gallons is probably too much.:)

My 2.7L takes 2 gal. to fill after a simple radiator draining. Specs say 4 gal.total cooling capacity.

10 liters for the 3.4, assuming that's what you have and not actually a 4.3.

Of course this is my mistake, it's supposed to be: 3.4

A little over 2 gallons is the correct answer. The whole system does not hold 4 gallons like somebody mentioned. There are different capacities because some models will have the rear heater which requires more coolant.

My owners manual - Coolant capacity=4gal. Actual capacity is 2gal IRW. Must have been a typo but nearly drove me crazy first flush n fill 10 years ago.

[IMG] Thank you for all the answers, today I found in the old drawer the original instructions (manual)
    I attach copies.
By the way, how to deal with draining water from the engine block?
The unscrewed cap in the radiator will never remove water from the engine and heater block. So far, I was removing the bottom hose from the radiator but I have no strength to do it endlessly :) I had a very heavy flushing of the entire system for the last few days. I would like to pour coolant into a clean system with no residual water. Is there any other way to do this?

The amount that's left over in the engine block is negligible, maybe a 1/2 pint. There's probably a fair amount in the heater core and heater lines but why are you worried about this? If you've ran several rounds of distilled water through the system with your heater control on hot, you've pretty much flushed out the entire system and you're left with pretty clean residual distilled water in your heater core, heater lines and engine block. Since you now have an owners manual to reference, you can figure out how much is left in the system after you drain the radiator. Measure what you drain out of the radiator and subtract that from the total system capacity. The system capacity will be different between models with a rear heater and those that don't so use the right capacity number for your rig. Once you know what's left over in the system, you can match that number with pure coolant concentrate. This will make what's left over in the engine and heater a 50/50 mix. Then all you do is make some more 50/50 mix, top off your system with it, burp the air out and you're done.

If you're trying to put in 8 gallons, you've left the drain plug open and your feet are wet, lol
