How could you put 19.2 in a 19 gallon tank that likely wasnt completely empty? Think its like 22 but like you i dont care enough to actually open that book thingy that came with my truck filled with info like this

Why is this a question? You know there’s a manual, right? With words and numbers and stuff...

Has anyone ever put 21 into their tank? And if so how many hundreds of miles did you drive after distance until empty read zero? Think when mine reads zero still has atleast a gallon, probably more

Sounds like it's the same tank as in the second gens?

    If that's the case... (+/- 0.5 gallons)
21 GALLONS is a FULL TANK
16 (down 5) The gauge reads 3/4 tank.
12 (down 9) The gauge reads 1/2 tank.
8 (down 13) The gauge reads 1/4 tank.
4 (down 17) The low fuel light comes on.
3 (down 18) The gauge is on the Empty LINE.

You have a 3-gallon "reserve" once you hit the E LINE... The needle keeps dropping. I have put just over 20 gallons in once.

How far until you run out depends on your mileage.
    IF 15 MPG = 45 miles
    IF 18 MPG = 54 miles
    IF 20 MPG = 60 miles

I've filled 20.78 gallons... went well past DTE 0. Was towing, getting 6mpg (lots of wind resistence), drove about 20 miles past the DTE alert. FWIW.

looks about right. My gauge said 3 miles to empty the other day when filling up and I put in a little over 19 gallons.

By that math you had like 3.5 gallons when your distance til empty read zero. Or enough fuel to start the warning when it read zero. Thats about what mine seems to do though i have yet to push it that far. Maybe ill fill up a can n try it

Never trust those fuel ESTIMATORS on new cars. Measure the fuel you put in and divide that into the miles since you last filled up. It's old-fashion, but it is the truth.

I heard it was bad to let the fuel tank go down to empty cause then all the sediment at the bottom of the tank will go through the fuel system and clog up the filter. I only let it go down that low since I had my truck at the dealer for the recall and didnt want too much fuel in the tank. I had like 25 miles to empty when I dropped it off, but with all the road testing, it was at 9 miles to empty when I picked it up....
