    This happened back in June..

THREE DAYS before my wife and I were leaving for a month long trip in Montana to test out living full time in a travel trailer, a neighbors tree decided to cause some chaos. Damage wasn't too bad - broken windshield, damaged roof, totaled Leer shell.

Est. repairs are around $6.5k but insurance is covering it all. Honestly not too bummed about the shell since I was already considering moving to a softopper due to payload concerns with towing. Bought the shell used from someone here and insurance is giving me $2,200 for it :D

Overall feeling pretty lucky but we have absolutely no clue when we'll get the truck back. The new roof was ordered beginning of July and the shop still has no estimate on when the roof panel will get in. Anyone got some insight into toyota's parts supply chain lol

Everything has been Covid-ed. If the issue isn’t in manufacturing, there always issues in shipping. Your guess is as good as anyone’s. Get your XMAS shopping done now.

You should have kicked the bumper and made the airbags inflate. Would be quicker to get a new truck.

Boy that sure sucks! If your neighbor's tree caused this, does their insurance cover this?

In most states, a falling tree is considered an "act of God" and the tree owner is not liable for the damage. The repair costs fall unfortunately to the person with the damage. This of course is not true if the tree was already damaged or diseased and the tree owner knew about it.

Idk seems nearly impossible to find a new truck right now. Plus the amount of work I’ve already done on this one in the 3 months since I got it: wheels, suspension lift, firestone air bags, meso tails/puddles/turns/overhead, bro grille, brake controller, dashtop multi mount, etc.

Still went! Luckily the father in law offered up his tundra. Which he then immediately regretted because I love tapped some lady’s crossover pulling into a parking spot haha
    :anonymous:

No damage to his truck but went from 0 insurance incidents ever to 2 in 2 weeks lol. The Tundra was just too big!

Sorry for the mishap op, tough luck, but maybe the trip wasn't meant to be. However, If it were me, I would just remove the headliner, push-out the dent, buff it out and keep the change.

    Best of luck

    Yeah
Don't park under cottonwoods, they have a habbit of dropping limbs even in perfectly clear weather!

Source, I'm an ISA certified arborist (and I wouldn't dream of parking under a cottonwood or a silver maple unless I wanted an insurance claim)

It's the home owners responsibility if their tree fell on you property.

Yeah, no. Your tree, your problem. The tree owner’s insurance (homeowners) pays… a tree is just another ‘thing’ on one’s property for which one is responsible/liable.

The ‘act of God’ thing is reserved for earthquakes, tornados, meteorites… a regular old thunderstorm is foreseeable.

It's pretty sad that the parts network is this messed up. I remember back in the day ordering two 1st gen doors from the dealer and had them the next day
