When it dies will you replace it with another Toyota battery?

Mine lasted 12 years and 73,700 miles before finally struggling to run the starter.

Replaced it with a custom local battery made for our climate with a 60 month warranty but wishing I'd been smart enough to get another TrueStart.

OEM battery = Right around 5 years
    2nd battery = Right around 5 years

2nd battery was a Deka and kept on a CTEK constantly to keep it healthy.

I suspect my problem is going to be heat due to where I live. No hopes of getting more life out of batteries anymore.

I sold my OEM battery the day after I drove my truck home and swapped in an Optima Red Top, saving 20 lbs and won't spill acid onto my fender at steep angles off road. :D

BTW, the battery at the Toyota dealer usually isn't the same as the factory battery just due to geographic location.

OEM battery is at 4 years and 5 months. Still starting good. Probably replace with Costco battery.

All of my oem batteries have lasted 5 years. As part of my personal routine maintenance schedule I replace my oem batteries and other batteries at 5 years. I don’t want to wait until it fails cause it will always fail at a bad place and at a bad time. Cost wise it makes sense. I buy Costco batteries for around $115 to $140 , works out to be about $25 a year. That’s cheap and I have peace of mind.

How long they last depends on many factors but I’ve found that geographic location is the biggest factor for early failure. If you live in super hot areas like Arizona, Texas and others or super cold winters like Minnesota, Alaska and others, it’s harder on batteries and they don’t last as long.
I live in Northern California where temps are not extreme but are moderate year around. I’ve had a lot of cars and trucks and only one oem battery failed in less than 5 years and that was a Honda accord of my wife’s at about 3 years.

I question how humans can even survive in AZ.

It's hard to predict when any battery will die. Price paid is rarely a factor. Mine lasted about 5 years which is fairly typical but I've seen them last a bit longer. The most expensive battery only lasted one year.

Hot weather is what kills batteries, but you usually don't realize it's dying until it gets cold. A very weak battery will still start engines in warm weather. A lot of driving off road or on rough roads will often damage a battery too.

Mine just took a dive. 2 years on this one. Previous one lasted 4 years. I have added more accessories though so the juice was getting drained more. Time to upgrade.
