I have about 3500 miles on my truck tires. But im 95 percent sure im going to go get a set of bfg at's today at sams club, killer member deal. Normally id wait, but i trust those bfgs offroad mote than anything, so i figured why not, i can sell the old ones on cl.

I got new wheels and tires after about 500 miles, sold the factory ones for about $500 iirc. Might have been able to get a bit more for them but the KSL classifieds (utah version of cl) are always flooded with take-offs and I wanted to get them out of my driveway ASAP

My truck probably had 30-35k on the factory tires. They didn't need immediate replacement but they were at the point where I didn't trust them for winter which was right around the corner. I went with Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S tires due to prior experience and not hearing so great things about the KO2s in winter and wet conditions.

    Yeah.
I went 7k on the OEM tires before switching to some E-rated BFG KO2's. I know, overkill, but remote places I go in CO far from home are no place to be stuck wishing you had tougher tires.

At the time, Sam's wouldn't let me order them online in size other than the OEM size. I just wanted to go to 265/75 R16, but they wouldn't process the order. So, you may have to go to the store and convince them if they haven't fixed that. I just ordered from Walmart (I get a discount). The have a tire guy there that is in to offroading and he did a great job balancing them.

Sell the original tires while still new is probably the best option since you are buying anyway.

I second this opinion. I replaced mine after 4000 miles because it took me a while to find tires and wheels that I want. I ended up giving my tires to my friend though, he needed them badly.

I waited about 4 mos. after purchase. Did a few simple, cheaper mods while took my time deciding exactly what I wanted for wheels and tires. My take offs have 13,700 miles on them. Hoping to recoup a few bucks with them and the OEM sport wheels.

I replaced mine at 180 miles and sold them for $400 a couple days later. I then replaced the stock wheels and new tires at about 1800 miles and sold those for $800. All told I ended up with 5 SCS SR8 wheels and 255/85/16s for $600.

My 2016 just rolled over 50k with stock tires. I just bought new tires about a month ago.

I probably could have got another year out of them. Granted I've been working from home for the past year.

I'll wait until this set wears out or becomes damaged beyond repair or is older than 6 years.

Then a set of Michelins will be installed.

I got super lucky with mine. Upgraded at 2500 miles and the tech that installed my new tires bought the oem ones. Got $250 for them. Probably could have gotten 300-350ish in FB/CL but the convenience of not taking them home with me was worth it.

I was lucky. When I got my new truck, right before Covid, a friend of mine was starting his new contracting business (carpentry, decks, etc.). His truck needed new tires and so I told him he could have them immediately. I gave him a ridiculous price and that made it a no brainer. I was just looking to cover half the cost, or so, of the tires that I wanted.

My advice, put them on CL and line up a buyer. The sooner the better. You can let them know that you will do the swap as soon as your new tires come in. I also had a friend that did that, offered them for a great price, and the guy on CL put down a deposit because he needed the tires and the price was right. Just a thought that might help with an easy transition. In the case of my friend, the guy met him at the tire shop and they did the swap right there ... and both sets got installed.

    Good luck ... !

If you're asking me, experience. Ive had bfg, Micky Thompson, cooper, and know friends that wheel their daily driver that have had a slew of other brands. For me, these tires when doing a 5 wheel rotation, wear like iron, good on road and off and do well in the snow and ice i get in ne ohio. So, personal experience is my answer.

Id have preferred the cooper mud tires i had on my previous truck, but i didnt want to get those this time around, not untilll i get new wheels and upgrade suspension. Thats a couple years away.

That was the plan. Taking photos of them on the truck and a photo of the odometer, cl bound.
