Hello. I have a 2002 Toyota Tacoma that I am wanting to put a 3" body lift on. Has anyone done this? First off at that height will I need to extend the steering column or anything else? and second is this something I can do myself? Has anyone done it themselves?
    thanks for any help.

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
Dont do it! 1" at the most and judging from your pic your truck is pretty tall already.

Thank you for the concern but that is not my truck. That is what I would like mine to look like. But mine is a prerunner and not four wheel drive so the highest suspension lift that I can find for my truck is 5" which only actually lifts it 4. So I was hoping to do a 2-3" body lift to get a total of 7-8 inches

If it's only for looks then I don't see why it wouldn't work (aside from the fact that body lifts over 1" look bad IMO but to each their own). If you do any off-roading then a body lift like that, especially on a truck already sitting on a 4" suspension lift, can't be considered safe and the ride will probably be pretty bad.

Can't you just do a drop bracket BDS or Procomp lift and get 6" out of that?

a few companys make 6" lifts for these trucks (which id never put that garbage anywhere near my truck)

the bodys lifts are "kits" and come with everything needed including the steering column extension (these are ugly and unsafe and id never use one above 1")

2wds have 1 or 2 3" spindle lifts still available but they are pricey ( cant really comment anything bad about them besides causing some excess component wear. they seem fairly well built)

Id spend the money on some nice riding suspension bellow 3". i mean. its 2wd....

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I agree I do not like the body lift looks but I would do 2 inches to get a little extra height if needed. eon, I am not too familiar with all the different types of lifts. You mentioned a BDS lift? I am not familiar with that. And I will check pro comp for a lift but I have talked with several install places like "four wheel parts" and a couple others and they say that this rough country kit is the highest. It is due to the fact that it is not 4WD. They just dont make as much off roading stuff for that model obviously. And I did not want the added weight and complexity of the 4WD system for gas mileage and repair. I was traveling a lot with the truck then. I am not now. And when I purchased the truck I did not really have intentions of doing this (although have always wanted to).
Is there anyone who has actually done a body lift on one of these that could tell me how difficult it is? whether it was one or two or whatever inches I am sure the same is required.

Would never reccomend it but they are easy

Just do a spindle lift and crank the coilovers to 3". There's 7" safely right there

Id recommend this over the db and bl paired. Plus it will look MUCH better because youl have loads more ground clearance up front.

thanks Anthony. Again, I am not up to speed on all these abreviations. Could you tell me what a spindle lift is? and would cranking up the coilovers hurt/stress anything too much?

and Devin, thanks for the link. I have not see that one. I do like its looks better than the straight across the bottom one from rough country. I will call these guys tomorrow to see if it will work on my truck. It does say 2WD. Also, when you say DB and Bl paired. i am guessing BL is body lift but what is DB?
