Hey y'all, I've got sleds that ill be putting in the bed of my Tacoma (if it ever comes, come on Toyota, it shouldn't take 6 months) and i was looking for something to protect the bed floor against the studs.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
Depends I suppose. Are you going in skis first or backing in? Tailgate up or down (I would expect down)?
While the mat will protect the floor of the bed (it is rather heavy duty), it won't protect the tailgate surface.
You might want to find a horse stall mat long enough to cover both the bed floor AND the tailgate and cut it to fit. They're about the same composition.

    Canada Eh!
I think the carbides will carve up the bedmat long before the studs do.

I'd bet that it makes the front end a bit squirrelly at times with most of the weight over the rear axle & bit back of that. If it were me, I'd opt for a small trailer for the sled.

I am often putting wood pallets in my bed (which often have exposed nails etc), and dont want them catching the bed mat.

So a piece of plywood lives in the bed on top of the bed mat ...
I live in florida (rain pretty often) so I use sheathing grade 1/2" plywood, but I dont bother with PT or anything like that.

I actually moved the plywood from my old tacoma to my current one, so that piece has probably lasted for 8 or 10 years

I used to put my sled in the bed of my F150 but don't like the idea of going of over the wheel wells in my Taco so don't do it. But what I did was go to a local Line X place and grab a plastic bed liner they had laying around. I traded them a case of beer for it.

I lined my ramp with it, covered my tailgate and had it in the bed. The groves work great to guide the skis and I never had a stud poke through it. The plastic also slides so much easier than the rubber mat when pulling into the bed.

And the season is getting close. Bought my trail passes yesterday!

If you look close at the tailgate you can see the plastic bed liner laying on it. And here's what I did with the ramp.

Good idea with that. Also where'd ya get that ramp? Looks great.

Looks like thisll be what im doing.

Not a bad idea. And yeah, I haven't ridden since 2013, (i was 10, got into rep hockey and didn't have time) Now that im old enough, you know, im an adult, i had a 99 Vmax 600sx with only 2000 original kilometers, and am finally getting back into it. Trail season just started up here in northern ontario, but my tacoma won't be here till early jan :(.

Great idea with the old bedliner. I'm also a Yamaha man lol, mine is a 99 vmax sx 600, my dads is an 01 Venture 700, and my mom has a 99 Vmax 500 Deluxe

I grew up on a Yamahas in the 80s but my last one was an 05 RX1 (hence the name). Went with a Cat this time since Yamaha doesn't hardly make sleds anymore.

Seeing your sled reminds me of back in the day. I had a 99 MXZ 670 HO and my buddy had an 01(?) SRX 700 tripple tripple. That SRX was a good running sled. My backs a little too old to put miles on an ass dragger now.

I use a really thick rubber pad I got from my tire guy. $40 well spent.

I considered an Ape but coming from an RX1 it just wasn't a big enough change to be worth it to me. So I jumped to Cat... a 16 ZR 6000 RR. Looking to change again in a few years as the 600 isn't cutting it, especially on the lake.

I'll be back a 4 stroke but turbo this time. Not sure if Yamaha/Cat or Doo though. Don't mind the weight of a 4 stroke since we only trail ride in Northern WI. Figure it out when the times closer.
