IMO I think they should come with the all-terrain tires. It seems like they up the fj's way more than the Tacomas.

Honestly, it depends on what you plan on using them for. As a street tire...they're fine, except in the rain they're pretty crappy, offroad use just sucks IMO

I dont have any personal experience with them, but I've heard several people refer to them as "rugged fails".

There is a reason people call them rugged fails....

Try and search around for some more verification, many people upgrade from those with much haste heh

    they are the suck

    I mean

    THEY ARE THE SUCK

they arent a dedicated road tire, so their onroad grip sucks.
They arent a A/T offroad tire, so their offroad grip sucks.

theyre right in the middle of sucking at both.

I agree, seems like the FJ's got the hook up. TRD OR's should have come with BFG All Terrains.

When I was picking up my truck from the dealer the other day I noticed a brand new TRD Tacoma and it had "BFG Rugged Terrains". I guess thats the new version. They definitly look better, Im sure they do about the same offroad though.

I cant complain, it depends on what your using them for. I do some mild offroading to get where we ride and its deep sugar sand and never have had a problem, also navigated heavy rain and the hurricane with them just fine, we will see for winter. They beat the hell out of what toyota used to put on them, those crappy dunlops. I would say they're a decent tire for factory equipped, if your looking to do some decent offroading then get the KO's which the Baja's and FJ's have. But no sense in replacing perfectly fine tires unless you have a need/justification for different ones, besides "rugged fails" hear say.

All this info is good - just got my 2009 Tacoma and of course it came with those tires. I was wondering if they were actually any good because there are a few light off road places around here.

It depends on how the tires are used. As either an off-road or street tire exclusively, they're not so hot. However, as a decent street tire with decent off-road performance, they're not bad at all. Certainly can't say how they compare to every tire out there today, but they're better than most of the all-terrains I've owned in the past.

I got those tires off as fast as I could. After 20,000 miles they were just plain dangerous in the rain.

Going to replace and sell mine before they get too many miles on them. Just can't decide on Duratrac or KO.

Ran KO's on my previous GM and had no issues, but I don't shop around a lot.
