Have a 2012 taco and the rearview mirror has some play in it at the inside windshield mounting point. I have googled trying to find fix but I know you guys will have the answer I seek.

    Thanks

I think there’s usually an Allen head on the bottom of the mount, don’t quote me on that though, I’m sure someone who knows better than me will answer.

There was an allen head screw on the 2011, imagine the 2012+ would be similar if not the same.

Will I have to pop anything off to get to this screw? or is it visible.

I just looked at my 12 and there is a Allen on the bottom of the base that connects to the windshield. I think a shim of some sort under the arm that goes to the top of the windshield will fix yours. That’s where mine is loose too.

Hey thanks, looks like its an issue with some of them then. Wonder what type of shim, material, etc. would be best for that area?

I’d put a layer or 2 of 3m double sided tape.

What am I missing? I was able to lift my rear view mirror up with the stock bracket. I actually just discovered this a couple weeks ago. I was thinking that it must just be an upgrade with the newer trucks but I saw some on that thread with 2015 trucks like mine that wanted the bracket. Does the bracket in that thread move it back also?

I replaced my mirror a while back, its actually a torx bit. T12 if memort serves me right. All the screw does is keep the mirror from sliding up and off the bracket atached to the window. There shouldnt be any cover to get to it
