How do you attach a truck cap to the 3rd Gen Tacoma?

I tried searching for this but only found info on the previous gens.
Is their a simple way to attach a truck cap?
Did you use bolts or c-clamps?
I wonder what the truck shops use for this?

C clamps are pretty generic for these trucks. Also the 2 gen and 3gen clmaps or fastners should work.

 

mine came with some deals that slide into the tracks...clean and simple.

 

My Snugtop was installed wth brackets that uses the Toyota bed tracks. Very clean.

 

Glue. Lots and lots of glue.

 

Duct Tape.

OK seriously, the manufacturer should provide the Tacoma specific brackets for a Tacoma specific cap.

 

I mean it might work if you hit it insanely hard

 

You'll need a better grip than the guy in the pic is demonstrating.

 

Check your state regulations too. Some accept the c clams while others need to be bolted through the bedrail.

 

I used these for my Leer.

 

Both My Leer tops were installed with same brackets as CanOnfan2379. My 2014 Taco had the top for about six months before I traded for the 17 Taco and never shifted or had any issues. The current one so far only has about 1k miles on it and it's just as secure. I do believe that leer uses this type of mounting for the tacos.

I was looking at a used cap and there were no clamps so it was just something I was trying to figure out.
Right now it's a toss up between the glue, the duct tape and the nails.
Tough decision.
