I am new to TW and new to projects in general. I was cutting off the ends of the bolts of my RTT. The bolt that was closest to my rear window got some medal shards on it (not noticeable to the eye but you can feel them) that are stuck on it from grinding them off. I am curious how I can get this off my window?
Obviously next time I am going to cut at a different angle to avoid this - experience is the biggest teacher I guess!

FYI I was using a Dremel.

Replace rear window will probably be the only option. The metal will eventually rust and it'll show.

Try Iron-X. It dissolves metal embedded in paint and might work for glass as well. Smells like death though so don't put your nose too close.

I would try a clay bar (throw it out after). Then iron-x.

It might be embedded in the glass, those grindings come in hot.

I was thinking about this as well but have never used a razor blade with glass. I assume as long as I watch the angles right I should be fine, correct?

Correct. Use it just like you would an ice scraper. Stainless steel can't scratch glass (but it can scratch the hell out of film tint, so watch out if you need to clean the inside of your windows).

If the shards don't wipe off with a rag then there's a pretty good chance that they are melted into the glass. (Glass melted)

From a dremel wheel? I doubt there are pits

It takes a lot to melt glass. Like in the neighborhood of 1600 C or better. Most steel sparks, unless they are glowing white, are under 1000 C.

Molten steel will adhere to glass really well, but I'm optimistic that it didn't damage it. Otherwise you would have seen that window shatter from the shock.

    So says the laboratory nerd.
