How deep of water would you go with a stock Tacoma?

So. I went down a trail today here in Kodiak. It's been raining here for a couple weeks and the trail had a lot of water forging. One section in particular got me on edge. When I started through it, the water was up to maybe mid tire height. However, the truck then went down till I was pushing water over the hood! I said fuck! To late now so I gave it to her like a High School Virgin on prom night. The water must have been maybe 20 feet long so it wasn't to much.

After going through, I opened the hood, checked the filter and visually checked everything. The engine bay was pretty dry. Wish I took my GoPro with me! Need to make a permanent charging wire for it. Anyhow. My truck is practically stock besides visuals and some lights.

What's the deepest have you gone in your truck??

So the thread title asks "How deep would you go with a stock Tacoma?"
Does it have to be my (almost) stock Tacoma, or can I use yours?

I've only gone maybe a few inches above the bottom of my door, but I'll get some scuba gear if you loan me your Taco.

Be careful, Hydrolock is an expensive repair. Coworker did this with old generation Tundra and it was several thousand dollars for a new motor.

Theres many many rules to water.

You can drive through 4 feet of water without hydrolocking, but you have to be pushing the water and moving at a constant speed. Once you stop in any bog, you kill the engine.

Golden rule is tires and no more.

I got stuck in a deluge in Ft. Worth. So much rain came down so quick it closed I-35 south just north of the city. I could see the traffic stopped so I exited. But the service road was under construction and it was flooded too. I was in my 2013 DCSB Prerunner at the time and the water was up to the doors but we managed to make it through just fine to Meachum.

Scary when you think you are getting ready to float. I never would have attempted it if it was a creek or river crossing. Too many people die here that way. The service road was lined with big blocks of cement for barriers. I knew we weren't going anywhere and worst case we would get some serious scrapes. 1st gear and steady rules.

Yeah I know the intake is up in the fender so hopefully that keeps water at bay, unlike other cars or trucks that leave the intake facing the front of the vehicle.

Yea, that was pushing it. Nice to see people push the envelope though. By comparison, I was in water that deep but it was a channel with three foot high cement blocks lining both sides. The water was not rushing like the river. I figured worse case we'd flood the truck and get stuck or scrape the blocks. I knew we weren't gonna drown. But I did have my fiancee and her 80 year old mom in the truck. Failure wasn't really an option. The truck did fine and I have no doubt my 4Runner would have handled it as well.

So, how about your differentials? You drive into water with stock diff vents and you run the risk of having water get in.

I'm sure the guys in the video have diff breathers and are setup for it. My truck wasn't but nothing happened to it, thankfully.

Mines not stock, but I don't have a snorkel. I went through a "puddle that was only about 15 feet across. I'm about half way through and the Water is about a 3rd of the way up the wheel... Then I feel it drop to where I have water coming over my hood, somehow was lucky enough to float it just the right distance and it caught traction pulling itself out of the water. My friend and his ram were not so lucky. He needed a tow truck

I'm not a fan of any water now.

By the way, my son almost got killed in Alaska. Just outside Anchorage he hit black ice, slid off the road and flipped his Tacoma into a lake. He and his buddy got out, but it was probably his air force training that saved their asses.
