How are you guys strapping down or carrying gas cans in the bed?

That US can from Northern Tool are very different from the NATO can. Apple to oranges comparison. The CARB compliant spouts are always a disappointment. The Scepter NATO can and Scepter Spout work very well.

Only used to feed my dirt bike.

 

From my posts here and here, 2.5 gallon gas and 2.5 gallon water can mounted to the bed using the Rago brackets. Sorry so picture heavy. I ended up using a bunch of leftover scrap hardware to make it work.

 

Get the caliraised or RC molle panels and some quick fists.

 

Get some racket straps and bungee cords geez. Ghetto up in here

 

Maybe "for offroad use only" you could replace the spout with this?

Added front bed rail and use a flat piece of aluminum to pinch the Wavian can holders to the bed. I can run a steel cable through the cans and lock them to tie downs to keep the opportunistic sticky fingers at bay. They stay planted even on the roughest trails thus far.

Nada for me. If I'm going on a multi-day wheeling trip where refueling might be a problem, I'm also carrying enough tools, camping gear, and recovery gear to fill the bed:



My Coleman marine cooler fits right in the space between the Scepter 20L jerrycan and the tailgate. The tonneau constrains the jerrycan vertically.

I only use a gallon can to grab gas for the lawn equipment.

I use a bungy cord and a d ring

i use a ratchet strap to tie down my jerry can (test fit in the picture) under tonneau

 

REI has a bunch of those for like $60

I made a full length drawer slide for my fuel/water, and fridge. Strap the cans to the tray and use a super siphon to fill the truck when needed. No lifting required.
