I'm looking at getting an uptop overland roof rack, but my dumbass can't figure out how people are attaching their cargo boxes to them without making them inaccessible by using a cargo strap around the top... -_-

Drill through the bottom and bolt it to the rack using liberal amounts of FIPG to seal it, that or only put the ratchet straps through the handles.

The Apache ones from harbor freight (Pelican case clones) are sturdy and sealed well enough for the task but not so expensive you feel bad about drilling into them or worried about them walking off.

Not sure what all you will carry but I saw an contractor that had the milwaukee packout plates and cargo boxes on his roof rack. Easy to get boxes off and back on with that.
All depends what you want or need to carry and how accessible you need it.

You can also use ratchet straps .

I have a Pelican 1600 case on my Front Runner roof rack and just used an endless ratchet strap. I more or less copied Overland Under Budgets method of using stainless steel binding barrels that I ordered from McMaster-Carr.

I liked this method because it didn’t require drilling through the bottom of the case, and is very easily removable.
