Just put some KMC wheels on the truck and wanted to do a post covering specs and rubbing.

They are 17x9 -12mm offset 4.5 backspacing wheels. I went with Cooper STT Pros in 285/70r17 or 33x11.5. I have a 2in block in the back and a 2in spacer on the front suspension. There was minimal rubbing on the part of the fender flare that goes down behind the tire. Cut it with snips and sanded it down. Other rubbing was on the black plastic liners that stick out in the fender well. I heated them up with a heat gun and bent them out the way while still serving their purpose. There was no rubbing on the cab mount or anything major. Everything was a quick fix, and it turns perfectly now. I think the new wheels and bigger tires look great and couldn't be happier. I'm not saying they will fit this good on every 2nd gen, but hope this helps somebody.

Above is the spot on the fender flares that I had to cut. Nothing major and is only going to be noticed if looking for it because its tucked up behind the wheel.

Glad you got them to fit. Did you fully flex out the suspension? Does it rub when the wheel is turned and stuffed? Hope you test that out before hitting the trails, good luck!

Unless you have taller bump stops limiting how much you can stuff your tires you'll soon find out that you are still rubbing.

    Happy cutting and hammering....

I have not tested that out yet, and I have to be honest I don’t do any trail riding. The most off-roading I do is on the clay dirt roads on the way to my hunting camp and my deer stand. And they usually don’t get too washed out so I’m not too worried about that.

I installed a set of BF Goodrich KO2's the exact size mentioned for right at 85K miles on my 2009 TRD Sport. I still Run this size and Make tire, and am now just over 250K miles, as of last week. They were Installed on OEM wheels and I added 1 inch wheel spacers. I removed the front mud flaps immediately, as they rubbed A LOT. No other rubbing issues unless turning FULL right or FULL left, all the way to the stops. I installed a 3 inch lift / Leveling kit a couple of weeks later, and never had an issue afterwards.

i have the same tire/wheel sizes & a ~1.75" lift via 6112's 3rd perch, and i wouldnt wheel with that setup. I actually got SPC UCAs to push the wheels forward a bit even for street driving because of how close that tire was to the body mount on turning. A turn/bump combo could potentially be bad. And thats on cooper at3 4s's, any kind of knotty tire i would not run on that setup for safety reasons without a BMC

Yeah @tacomavan, anyone that says they clear a 285 without some work to enlarge the wheel well opening a bit isn't trying hard enough to get them to rub.

I still rub in a couple spots, even after getting the alignment dialed in, a cab mount chop, flattened pinch weld, and a bunch of plastic trimming.
