The bolts holding it there have no grabby ends.

The only ignition cylinder I’ve removed was from a Honda Element. To get those security bolts off you need something like an impact safe screw driver. You need to hammer the hell out of the bolts at an angle on that lower section until the bolts start to spin. Then you can usually get them off my hand.

make sure you use new security screws when you put the new cylinder on unless you want someone to bring their own to take your truck. :locked:

would cutting a slot using a hacksaw and unscrewing using a flathead also work? i'm guessing they're red loctited as well.

That would be my first step, or possibly sting on an impact hex shank and break them loose that way.

center punch the the shear bolt and drill it out. A left hand drill bit works best as if it bites, it unscrews the bolt for you. Once you have one loosened the other should unscrew with your finger tips.

If you can get a hacksaw in there. A dremel with a metal cutting wheel would be easier.

Whats the end goal here? If you're re-keying or changing the cylinder, you don't need to get that apart.

I venture you can try a bunch of ways but will end up drilling!

Working for the Lock Smith we always just drilled.

You need a sharp chisel and hammer, tap backwards and they will loosen up. There's no lock-tite on the threads, usually you can get them turning with your finger once they're loose
