Hi y'all! I just got my new truck (first truck) and I'm in love! A neighbor asked me today about towing a horse trailer with an Arabian. I have a RWD V6. Thoughts? Suggestions? Warnings?

How much does the horse weigh? How much does the trailer weigh? What gear and how many passengers will you be carrying? How far are you planning on going?

I'm struggling with your scenario. How does an owner of an Arabian not having a high-end diesel to tow around that $25k - 300k horse and that $2k - 30K horse trailer? If you have the money for the horse, boarding, farrier, and feeding why are you skimping on the tow vehicle where you could lose your entire investment in an accident? Please feel free to ignore this second part - it is just something I'm struggling with. The important questions are in the first part.

There's a huge difference between "live" and "static" weight. The horse will move around and shift his weight as you drive. This is a situation where your vehicles weight makes a huge difference.
A short local tow is doable, but a long tow will have to be slow and you will have to be very alert.
I have towed thousands of miles with horses and stock and do not recommend a Tacoma for anything over ten miles.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
Many people who own horses never buy a truck or trailer.

Some that do own trucks and trailer most likely should not.
