Who here has the Hooke Road rear bumper on their 2nd gen Tacoma? I ordered a factory style chrome bumper complete from Ebay and its complete garbage. Plastic top end caps were broken, clips were broken, plastics didn't fit for shit. Sent the seller a message with pictures requesting a full refund and a label to ship it back. I need a tow hitch also so I figured this would be a good option since it comes with a factory hitch. $700 is about the top of my budget so this would be perfect.

If you’re willing to wait I think you could find something better quality for that budget on here or from local sales.

Otherwise I’d say more positive comments in general about that bumper.

Any particular function you need other than towing?

Sadly, that hitch is likely stronger and made the cost of the package nearly double in price. That's usually a $400 bumper. A step above stock but not remotely equivalent to the strength and build quality of any vendor on here. I definitely wouldn't trust it in a recovery situation but seems to serve it's purpose for most of the buyers. I don't even have to see the manufacturer name to know that it looks like the work of the copy-cat company by the name of Hooke Road. That company will copy any design of popular builds of any manufacturer.
If you want to stay within budget but stronger bumper, I would go with the new style rear bumper by body armor for $600. I dig the new design and you can find a factory take off hitch to use with it. :

I have this bumper, put it on about 2 years ago. I've never used the tow hooks just the hitch. Someone backed into my truck at the local Home Depot and messed up the factory one. This was a cheaper option than buying a factory one and then having it painted to match the truck. It looks good, light are very bright.

How about the 4xinnovations bumper? I just put one of these on my truck. Excellent build quality and fit. The price is right around what you're looking for. And the hitch is DOT certified. Not the best pic, but I snapped it right after I threw the bumper on.

I have a 4Xinnovation rear bumper on my truck. In order to get the gap even to the rear fender or at least pleasing to the eye, I had to put a spacer in the front mount at the bottom of the bumper and oblong the three side mounting holes. The slot farthest away from the bumper was the worst. See my post in the 4Xinnovation section.
Other than the mounting issue, the bumper is of great quality and way overbuilt. I would hate to be the one to rear-end the truck.
Being in Minnesota I elected to have the bumper galvanized by AZZ and I aerosol painted it black.

Just bought a similar bumper off of Amazon under the brand Scitoo for $353 delivered:

SCITOO Rear Step Bumper for 2005-2015 for Toyota Tacoma With D-ring LED Light https://www.amazon.com/dp/B084YZ1KHV

Claims to be 5/32" thick which is 9 guage. (Hopefully that's before paint! )

These bumpers are all over ebay under different brands. I'm sure all out of the same factory in China.

Anyway, have yet to install it. Going to have my 15 1/2 year old donit since he'll be driving this thing soon!

EDIT: this bumper also allows the factory hitch to still be used!

Thanks for the information everyone. Turns out waiting alittle bit paid off for my new-to-me hooke offroad bumper I bought it from @dwcfastrice for $100 ( TW Expressed to me from @dwcfastrice and @Armyhater458 ) and a rustfree factory hitch I'm buying from @VXEric for $100 (he'll be bringing it to Pittsburgh next week when he comes to this side of the state).

Finally installed it. There is a fraction of a mm on each side of tailgate when lowering next to each "ear" of side of bumper.
