Has anyone ever used this Hooke road bumper. The company makes parts for Sema builds and was wondering if this bumper is good and worth buying

If the bumper is just for looks, go for it. If you're planning to use it for winching and recovery, get something made to handle those stressors.

Lots of great fabricators out there and just as many styles of bumper. RCI, CBI, C4, Victory4x4, WarFab just to name a few.

Where are you located? You may be able to find a local fabricator to help you out and avoid the shipping charges/cut down on wait time. Plus supporting small, local businesses is the way to go in my opinion.

You'll pay a bit more than the Hooke Road price but get a better product.

This looks like a winch compatible front bumper. Why do you claim it's not? Just curious I have no clue who this company is.

Maybe it's good to go and you won't have any issues, but maybe you will. I'm risk averse and would rather pay a little more for a quality product I feel more confident in.

Most quality steel bumpers are made from 3/16" steel plate with 1/4" recovery points. I doubt this bumper follows that standard and I also suspect the QC on the welds may be lacking.

Then you've got many, many options! Lots of great fabricators in CA. Depending on where you're at maybe @GHOST SHIP can hook you up.

I would recommend asking about local fab shops in your local/regions thread wherever that may be. People there can direct you to some good resources.

Given those specs it looks like the 9/64th steel used is about 25% thinner than the 3/16th standard I mentioned above, and the 11/64th used for the recovery points is about 30% thinner than the 1/4th standard.

It seems like a big difference to me, but I am not an engineer. And as I've mentioned before I am more risk-averse than some others on here.

@skeletron has me convinced! I personally have a southern style offroad slimline front bumper and love it. Just fyi.
