I have already taken my Tacoma into the Service Department because of the great amount of hood vibration on even smooth roads. Essentially, the result was" I test drove yours, and I test drove 2 others on the lot, the hood vibrates on all". My service rep basically said "drive it like you stole it, maybe enough owners will complain and they will have a fix with it.

    Anyone else have this issue?

    Thanks,
    Sherbert

I do notice some hood vibration at speed on my Sport. It's visual, I don't hear anything. Maybe it's the fake scoop catching the wind, providing lift. Could always remove it and see if that makes a difference.

Sounds like the relationship is off to a rough start.

I have an OR without scoop an my hood starts fluttering at about 70mph. I hate it but is what it is. Toyota should have done better. I mean did they even test drive the proto before saying ok thats it, build it?

I’ve owned all gens on the Tacoma, except the 4th. The sheet metal gets thinner as the generations grow, less metal with braces and glue.

My 2nd gen sport scooped hood is solid on my OffRoad

maybe the 2024’s need the hood rubber bump/tension pieces adjusted.

It is not considered a defect. They all do it, even the heavy-duty 70-series Land Cruiser sold in Australia for $80k. The hood is intentionally made flimsy to save weight and meet pedestrian impact requirements.

Now, does your hood vibrate in-phase or out-of-phase with the glovebox, which is apparently a major item of contention for Youtubers?

^Yeah that was a bit of sarcasm. I'm sure Toyota validated the glovebox latch spring rate with a portion of the 500 mules they built for 4th gen testing

These issues been going on forever with the hood … just like the differential noise … don’t see this getting fixed anytime soon .Toyota uses some cheap glue to bind the hood together .. I had this repair done under warranty when mine was doing it .

Here is the thread on the 3rd Gen glue on the under side of the hood coming loose.

Same thing on my OR. It's directly in front of the driver, closest to the windshield. Haven't observed from the passenger side. To me, it seems like the hood is just too thin. All speeds over about 10-15 mph. It's kind of annoying. Will definitely point it out on the first service.

That thread is hilarious. 3rd Gen owners bitching about having to pay so much and having quality issues. 2nd Gen owners bashing the 3rd Gen and commenting how their 2nd Gen is rock solid. Same story, different gen.
