Hood or Tailgate Wrap/Stamp Matte or Gloss Vinyl (and more!)

Some time ago, I bought quite a large roll of matte black vinyl to wrap a buddy's car when I picked up vinyl wrapping as a hobby.
Quite a bit remains on the roll. If you're in the area (refer to post #7) and want a hood wrap, hood stamp, or tailgate wrap/stamp, slide into those PMs! If you choose a stamp, it'll be custom cut to follow the hood body lines. Hood scoops aren't a problem

Roof wrap, fender wrap, etc., and particular colors or patterns (like camouflage) are available too. Send a PM!

How long do you think it will last in the SoCal heat? I’ve looked a little into it and was told tops two years until the wrap starts to crack and peel. Also was told the paint on my hood was like sand paper because over never waxed or polished it ever.

 

with matte finish vinyl you will start to see spots within a year and fading within the 2 year mark. and in some extreme cases I've seen it turn white hoods yellow me personally when I had my white civic roof wrapped I changed it out yearly, but I also have been doing wraps for 16 years. gloss on horizontal surfaces is the way to go. and if you do decide to go with matte finish I highly recommend ceramic coating the vinyl as it will help a ton with sun protection.

 

If constantly parked in the sun, (matte) probably around 2 years, just as @Tacogeorge17 said. But speaking of effed up paint, a wrap's main job is to prevent that exactly. And yes, some type of protectant helps a lot too

 

I got some gloss lying around too but didn't bother to mention it since I thought it was counter-intuitive to wrap a hood gloss as most people want to reduce glare haha

Is there a particular ceramic coating product you would recommend as to be most compatible with matte vinyl?

 

I wouldn't want to go too much farther than this region here

 

We use Owners Pride here at the shop and it’s worked great

How about that strip on the hood that angles back to the windshield? I’ve had better results with knifeless tape but they were straight lines. This seems to be the glariest spot I’ve noticed. Certain angles of the sun, at whatever time in the day.

Yeah, of course, that'd be very doable. Assuming the surface is cleaned and prepped well, I could knock something like that out in less than an hour

No, I can't sell precuts because I don't use precuts. Hopefully, you find a guy over where you're at. Post pics when you do!
