    Just got it
Getting a 2024 Sport 4x4 with Premium package in a few days, does anyone know which models have the insulation on the underside of the hood? I’ve seen pictures of a few 24’s with it, couldn’t tell which models they were, packages etc.. Thanks!

Has to do with package, not model. Only comes with Premium package so you should be good

I'm sure you can do it, someone here has posted part numbers. Just a pad and some clips. The only benefit I'm aware of is sound dampening from engine bay but if that is something you want/need, go for it.

My TRD Sport with the Upgrade package doesn't have it and if it helps the engine sound a little less coarse when it's north of 3K then that is something I would appreciate every time I drive the truck because full throttle to the redline every shift bro.

So I'm taking one for the team and ordering the "Hood Insulator 53341-AK010" from the Limited parts list to see if 1) it fits and 2) it makes any difference in engine noise level and/or sound quality. With the Memorial Day discount it was $260 which seems absurd but that's ok, I'm probably going to die when I try to install it anyway.

It will be nice if the insulator includes a set of fasteners but no one is ever nice anymore so it probably won't. Therefore I'm going to need a Plan B. Should I keep things simple and just use a nail gun, or does someone have a recommendation of fasteners to use that aren't $87,000 each from Toyota?

Plugging number 90467-A0003 into Amazon gives "compatible" equivalents. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

I was honestly ready to say the insulation makes no noticeable difference. Even had that version of the post pre-written in my head, including multiple bad jokes. But nope, the insulation worked! It definitely tamed the coarseness of the engine note at heavy throttle and high rpm. It doesn't sound like a Lexus or anything now, but you no longer need to cringe every time you take the engine above 3K.

Installation was challenging. First I had to put the insulation in place and then I had to pop in ten clips. The whole process took well over three seconds.

I wonder if sealing those 10 rather large holes with some type of sound deadener would be worth the effort. You could do it in addition to or instead of the hood insulation mat.

I’ve tried for several weeks now to find the insulator with no luck where’d you order yours from? Also did it quieten down the rattle injector noise from 1st through 4th gear that starts around 2,500 rpm

In my opinion it definitely reduced injector rattle. Your mileage may vary.

That’s what I was afraid of, all the ones I’m finding are around $400, to me that’s crazy for a piece of insulation

I bought it during the Memorial Day sale for ~$260. Was it worth that? Not sure but I am pretty happy with the noise reduction. Definitely not sure it's worth $400 because for that money you can buy acres of Dynamat or whatever brand it is you are supposed to use under the hood and cut it all to size and maybe it will work better. Heck I might do that anyway for the parts of the hood the OEM mat doesn't cover.

edit - this whole reply is tough. Yes, the OEM mat is worth the noise reduction. No, I'm not sure there aren't better options available. Yes, I would do it again if I had it to do over again. Yes, I might buy even more insulation. No, I can't be a shining light of guidance. Yes, I can make bad jokes. No, I can't give good advice.

edit edit - Yes, you should spend money on reducing engine noise because you will be happy.

Don’t understand the point of hood insulation .. wouldn’t that generate more heat to the engine ?

    It's sound-deadening.

Yeah, I'll definitely wait till it goes on sale because I know what you mean about that sound over 3k rpms haha. Fortunately, though with all the torque the engine makes I mostly sit in the 2k range and roll into it like driving a diesel and it takes off without downshifting to much or at all.

I can't think of any other vehicle where the manufacturer puts additional insulation on the higher trims WITH THE SAME ENGINE. That's crazy. I can understand it if you have two different engines, but not making the lower trims intentionally noisier with the same engine.

And heat trapping, makes no sense to trap more heat. I will gladly take noise over heat buildup any day of the week, especially with forced induction.

what its trapping? its not like the insulation is blocking exhaust vents in the hood.
