The front of my hood is sitting too low. The two bump stops at the front are as high as they can go, but it’s still not right. Any ideas? Maybe something I don’t know or haven’t thought of?

Can you post a pic of the problem?

Look at the difference here by the fender. Seems ok with matching up to the grill, but near the fender is where it’s lowest point is. Wanting to put a deflector on it, but I can’t because of this. I’m just glad I didn’t slam the hood when I test fitted it. The deflector ended up hitting the lights.

Mine is the complete opposite, ha. I just pulled my hood struts and ditch lights trying to re-align it. Got no where. The manual says to replace the hinge bolts with standard ones before aligning though.

Yep. That is the reason I could not install a stone deflector. The deflector hit the grill surround. I returned it. I went to Lowes and bought the rubber "caps" that are placed on the legs of chairs to stop the chair legs from scratching the floor. I put them over to hood stops and was able to raise the stops further. This will line up the hood with the fenders. The only issue is that it is a little harder to pull the hood release. I have not installed another deflector with this set up yet.
can lower ths stops and have more room for adjustment
What I ment to say, with the caps on, you

Mine is the same way and I can't adjust either. I have seen others just like this and figured Tacomas are not as good of a fit and finish from the factory.

Does the hood and fender line up in this area? This is technically the correct place to look when adjusting the bumps stops

Originally, my hood did sit lower than the fenders. After installing the caps, everything lined up.

Damn, that's definitely not good either.

I just might give that a try and see how it works for me. I never would have thought of that. Thanks.

It sure seems like that is the case. Hopefully, we can all get these issues sorted out and fixed one way or another.

I'll check that as soon as I get a chance. It will be interesting to see how those line up. Thanks.

Had Toyota look at my hood today since I was in for an oil change. The collision center started to tell me that my core support was damaged and showed me some breaks under the fenders. If I chose to go down that path, it would be upwards of $3k and not under warranty. Then he started talking about how my truck is "heavily modified" and asked if I had hit anything. I left shortly after. When I got home, I started looking back in my pics. My hood has been like this for almost 2 years, ha.

That’s not a very good experience. Sounds like they didn’t want to mess with it and gave you a high price, I’m guessing. I’m thinking I will also bring mine in and see what they say.

Did you upgrade the radiator support bushings at any point? That can affect hood alignment if the new bushings are too tall.

No, I’ve never done that. I did change the grill, but from looking at old pictures I have with the stock grill it was the same way.

My hood also sits a little lower than the fenders with the bump stops screwed up all the way.
So if anyone comes up with a solution I'd love to see it.

There are more people than I expected responding that have the same issue. Hopefully everyone gets it sorted out and back to how it should be.

My hood to fender fit isn't great either, was low in front and back. Took it to a shop and the guy was able to get the front with the bumper adjustment; but the rear, he didn't have nice things to say about factory fit and finish (let alone replacement parts), but said an upside to the sheet metal being paper thin is being able to just tweak things..he put his palm on the top of the fender and just leaned on it a couple times and probably fixed 80-90% of the problem. The back of the hood misalignment isn't noticeable from the outside really anymore, but still drives me bananas though since I get to stare at it any time I in it. Maybe I should have gotten black, it would certainly hide these issues much better..

Damn, just by pushing on it? That doesn’t sound good in regards to how sturdy these trucks are. I’m just like you now. Every time I go up to the truck that’s the first thing I look at.
