Yeah it's the one they hoist and spend a day with. so banged up, i'm guessing it's the same one you have a pic with that you posted a while back, since the other one never leaves the HHOF basically

I believe the real one is in the HHOF. the real cup has some X'd out names and spelling errors, the replica has no X'd out names or errors.
for example, in 84 when the oilers won the cup Peter Pocklington (owner at the time) had his fathers name engraved on the cup which was later X'd out.

Maybe. I went to the HHOF last week, and there are three stanley cups. One is the original Cup, which is always in the vault at the HHOF. Then there is the Cup that looks just like the one the players lift, which is always at display at the HHOF so visitors have something to look at when they come. And then there's the cup that tours with the players, gets lifted when they win, and goes to events. The attendant at the HHOF called that the Presentation cup. Yeah the real one has errors, he said the Islanders, in I can't remember what year, when they won back to back, it was spelled Ilanders, without an S. I think that's the Real presentation cup that gets hoisted. But i'm not sure, that's what I was told

Lol that's quite a mess up haha

    from wiki

There are actually three Stanley Cups: the original bowl, the authenticated Cup, and the replica at the Hall of Fame. The original bowl, purchased by Lord Stanley and physically awarded to the champion until 1970,[58] is now displayed in the vault room at the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto, Ontario.[58]
The authenticated version or "Presentation Cup" was created in 1963 by Montreal silversmith Carl Petersen. NHL president Clarence Campbell felt that the original bowl was becoming too thin and fragile, and thus requested a duplicate trophy as a replacement.[59] The Presentation Cup is authenticated by the seal of the Hockey Hall of Fame on the bottom, which can be seen when winning players lift the Cup over their heads, and it is the one currently awarded to the champions of the playoffs and used for promotions.[45] This version was made in secret, and its production was only revealed three years later.[59]
The replica trophy, called the "Replica Cup", was created in 1993 by Montreal silversmith Louise St. Jacques to be used as a stand-in at the Hockey Hall of Fame whenever the Presentation Cup is not available for display.[59] There are very few differences between the authenticated version and the replica version. The surest way to identify one version from the other is to check the engraving for the 1984 Stanley Cup winning Edmonton Oilers. The authenticated version has x's engraved over Basil Pocklington's name whereas his name is completely missing from the replica version.

perhaps, but "the HHOF one" as you put it could apply to all 3.

the real/authenticated cup would have been what was on display.

it could only really apply to two, the one that's always at the HHOF, and the original cup, which it clearly isnt. You're tryin a bit hard here :D

Which is basically all year long, that's what the HHOF attendant guy told me. Fine, whatever, all three, after all they all belong to HHOF, but you know what OZ meant...

Regardless, it's one hell of a trophy. Can't help but smile in its presence.
