Anyone find a decent quality locking hitch pin for the 4th gen? My locking pin from my 3rd gen isn’t long enough.

looking like you need just shy of 4 inches of shank length. I have a bit over 1k on my Tacoma and want to get the boat out soon!

^Every locking hitch pin I've seen can be easily broken with a pipe slipped over the lock head. Get a 5/8" socket head cap screw and nylon locknut, cinch it down with a high-torque impact.

I really like the Bolt locks. Mine is keyed to the tailgate of me 2016. They are a beast.

But I don't think they make a lock that will work with the new tailgate key.

Working on a lien delete for my title…..
I’ve had several straight locks, that can be hacked with a pipe as previously mentioned.

I landed on this right angle style, no lock sticking straight out.

May not be any more secure, but it’s cleaner and a shorter overall profile.

They have an extended length version.

Yep had same issue with its length. Used the included hitch pin on my recent outing as my previous was too short.

They have been a standard for years: Reese, Draw-Tite, U-Haul, Wal-Mart. Bring your draw-bar and select one long enough that works. I have a locking one (keyed button) that has held up fine. I leave my draw-bar (four-way with three ball sizes and pintle-hook) in the hitch to protect my bumper mainly in parking lots.. It works: No dings in my bumper, but the 2" hitch ball selection has a few scars...

If I'm in a high-risk for damage area (curb-side parking in the city), the hook gets the alpha position: it has no scars. :pccoffee:

I’ve never really seen the need for a locking hitch pin. I suppose if you had a recovery point you didn’t want to take out but I always remove mine. Same with hitch balls.

if I’ve got a trailer, I’ll just back in it and then it doesn’t really matter as the trailer is blocked in by your truck

as mentioned above, I’ve also used a bolt before. Most people are looking for something quick, not something that’s going to require effort or tools.

I have an adjustable hitch that has an anti rattle you adjust with a torx I use on occasion too.

Mostly is to stop people from taking your receiver. I leave mine in all the time and just a pin with can be removed and taken in any parking lot. Sure. If someone wants it they can get it off. But it’s a deterrent from it just walking away.

Ummm…. This thread is older. Not sure why you are linking it to a new thread. If anything it should be the other way.

if you look close I was just linking them in circles, for a moment they were all three at the top of recent threads (at least via the platform I view TW) I found it amusing, my apologies
