    Hey all,

was driving home today and had a bad reaction to a animal crossing the road and swerved into a curb at about 40mph. Scared the sit out of me but the truck appears to be driving just fine.

Just the right side went up on to the curb. Truck tracks fine, there is no scratching, I can’t inspect any tire damage, and I drove home about an hour without any issue.

Other than not being so jumpy next time, is there anything I should get checked? Like I said everything appears to be fine.

Probably best to have the alignment checked.

Yeah that's a pretty strong smack, so getting your alignment checked is probably wise. But these trucks are a lot tougher than some give them credit for so I'm thinking you are just fine.

Number one rule with animals in the road…never swerve at high speeds. You’re way better off taking the impact straight on, then potentially rolling over, losing control or hitting another vehicle. Maybe take driving lessons? :burnrubber:

This is why I encourage every snow country driver to whip some shitties in a parking whenever possible. Avoiding disaster needs to be second nature and practice makes perfect.

Yeah it was dumb as shit. 3 days camping coming off a dirt road into a highway and just was slower than usual.

Thanks for feedback everyone. probably time for an alignment check anyways so maybe I’ll get that done at my next oil change and keep an eye out for anything weird.

A proper alignment would tell you if anything is out of position. I’d do it just to make sure.

Instincts are modifiable with practice, but none of us are perfect, not even kirill kaprizov

Dude, mine too! Especially when I'm driving. Nothing to do with my control of the vehicle but mostly her realization of something surprising to only her like a car pulling out or something trivial like that. Her jumping and yelping scares the shit out of me and I'll yell at the OP just like I do my wife.....CUT THAT SHIT OUT, GODAMMIT! THERE'S NO ROOM FOR THAT SHIT WHEN YOUR PILOTING A VEHICLE!

If it’s driving fine and not making terrible noises, I wouldn’t be worried about it.

I ran into and over 3-inch curb on center divider once, at about 30 mph. Developed a slight shudder which turned out to be damaged wheel bearings; cracked about 2-3 of the roller bearings. Alignment and BJ was unaffected.

I pick my path based on how hard the object is and generally the animal is pretty low on the hardness scale.
