Today while driving from Baltimore west I passed a truckload of Toyota pickups. At first I thought maybe the 2024 Tacoma, but no they were Toyota Hilux trucks. I thought these were in Australia and the Middle East but not allowed in the USA.

Can anyone explain why they are here?

They’re being sent to a company that will outfit them with whatever they need (armor, computers etc) and then reshipped to other countries for government and ngo use. Not legal here of course

These could have been purchased by our country for use overseas, they are maybe getting up-fit somewhere in the US with armor, radios, etc.

    You know, for doing "stuff"

They already sell the Hilux in Mexico.

If they want to sell it in the US they can start building it in Mexico as well, and bypass the bullshit chicken tax.

They could sell it alongside the Taco here in the US as a cheaper no bullshit, midsize truck for people who don’t want to drop 50k.
