I've been lurking on these forums for the last couple years and you guys have helped me out of more than one bind - so thank you!

I had some pretty bad hazing, water spots and whatever on my windshield (mainly b/c I have never cleaned it deeper than Windex and a paper towel), but it was getting to the point where driving at night or against the sun was brutal. Anyway, I was cleaning my stove last night after my Gf cooked us dinner and I was impressed by how easily this product got all the grime and crap off the surface (you have to know her cooking ..:p) soooo, I tried it on my windshield.

Holy crap...lol. That's pretty much all I have to say. It's called WEIMAN glass cook top heavy duty cleaner and polisher - I bought it from my local grocery store in their cleaning isle. I applied it on both the inside and outside and it made a world of difference. It's a paste that you rub on and wipe off after it dries (about 5-10) with a paper tower. Just be careful around the rubber - I got it on mine around the trim and it didn't do anything, but just in case.

The only minor issue is that it fills your pits with the white residue but I didn't notice any of it when I was driving after. It's really easy to apply and clean. The best part is it doesn't streak.

I hope you guys can find it and get the same results. Enjoy :) I'll track down a friend with a crappy windshield and take some pics - I neglected to since I wasn't thinking at the time.

Hmm never thought of trying that. I know it works wonders on the stovetop though.

I spent the morning googling all I could find on cleaning it - everything from 0000 steel wool, the wax block and the multitude of chemicals that people had tried. I was really nervous about taking steel wool to it but my windshield needed something good. I just got off the phone with the insurance company and glass place - heard they wanted 500$ to replace it so I figured I had nothing to lose.

I use Bon Ami powdered cleanser to take all the big stuff off, followed by Brass-O metal polish, and topped off with Rain-X. I do that 2-3 times a year. Super clean windshield and no wipers except in the heavier rain. I use Stoner aerosol glass cleaner for regular maintenance.

DISCLAIMER .. Bon Ami is the ONLY cleanser safe for glass

    Too few to list.
Try white distilled vinegar. No chemicals. Works great.

0000 steel wool works like a champ! I use it all the way around on the outside. I have tint so obviously can't do the inside

This works great for cleaning lots of things. This is what people used before all the cleaning agents came out.

    Thanks for the heads up.....

Here we go once again

    Every try searching THIS forum?????????

Oven cleaners are for ovens and last time I checked you didn't have ceramic coated glass on your truck.

DO NOT USE OVEN CLEANER ON YOUR TRUCK

See here for the correct products http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/de...s-stains-scratched-glass-etc.html#post5602651

Metal polish on glass  WTF are you guys thinking?????? :smack:

If you don't know any better please don't post the incorrect info up on a forum. Others will only follow in your foot steps and ruin or damage their glass. Not cool.

Yes, someone in here listing a good idea. +1

Do not listen to the people posting in here. Please see the link I provided.

Would you suggest spray paint as a mild abrasive? Simply wipe clean before drying.

Lol wow, that's quite the rant. Yes, I did try searching here which is also why I posted this because it wasn't on any other postings.

First off WEIMAN isn't an oven cleaner.. you should have read my post before getting so ramped up, secondly, straight from their website
"Weiman Glass Cook Top Heavy Duty Cleaner & Polish and Cook Top Scrubbing Pads work wonders for cleaning glass fireplace doors, glass shower doors, glass oven windows and even glass bakeware"

Looks to me like it has multi purposes.....last I checked, glass was on my truck. But thanks - I'll be sure not to use oven cleaner - should the need ever arise :p

Dont worry. Im not going to use steel wool. I might as well just media blast my windshield at that point.

I am gonna try the distilled white vinegar. ALso why white and not red vinegar? Is it because is cheaper?

I've used S.O.S. pads on the water spots on my '78 firebird for years, I bought it in 1990. The windows look fine, don't have scratches, pits or dents from it and don't seem to 'haze' up abnormally fast.

When I was living at home my parents had hard water in the country so water spots or a sheen was common even if you dried your car off.

I now live in the city, water is softer but I still occasionally will have to remove some spots from the windows.

So that's 20 years without damaging my windows. Perhaps because sos pad has a lot of embedded soap along with the water it stays lubricated, it's a very fine grit and I don't push hard.

    um sure

First off it is a oven cleaner :)

    See the link?????????????
    http://www.weiman.com/Products/Glass-Ceramic-Cook-Top-Ranges/Glass-Cook-Top-Cleaner.aspx

    From their site:
"Radiant glass/ceramic smooth top ranges are quite popular – thanks to their convenience and great looks. To maintain their beauty over time, cooktop surfaces must be cleaned regularly and properly.

Weiman Glass Cook Top Cleaner & Polish is specially formulated to clean, shine and protect glass/ceramic smooth top ranges. #1 in its category and recommended by major range top manufacturers, Weiman Glass Cook Top Cleaner easily removes burned on foods and will not scratch delicate glass/ceramic surfaces. Use regularly to keep new ranges looking beautiful or to bring older ranges back to life."

    and more....

"Weiman Glass Cook Top Heavy Duty Cleaner & Polish and Cook Top Scrubbing Pads work wonders for cleaning glass fireplace doors, glass shower doors, glass oven windows and even glass bakeware"

Last I checked pretty sure I don't look through a shower door or glass bakeware in my truck :)

Good question. Maybe someone else can help.

Good question. My -1 shouldn't of helped.

Use an old newspaper to wipe your windshield clean, instead of paper towel or cloth.

White is one of the more acidic vinegars, and does the best job cleaning.

One rep comment from someone with a lot of rep of their own will do that...
