I’m looking for a hitch receiver so I can take it on and off, as well as move it to the back.

You can get any slim winch bumper and pay a trustworthy respected welder to weld a 2" receiver into it. My friend did that with a Victory slim bumper and it's more solid than the bumper to the truck.

Bud was easy/pleasant to deal with and sounded pretty flexible...give him a call...can’t hurt...good luck

There aren’t a lot of options especially if you also want it to be high clearance and be part of a full bumper.

^But at least properly gussetted for 3rd gen so it won't bend...
No capacity the same way the recovery points on plate bumpers aren't rated.

The 4x hitch receiver will be marginal for winching, because the six crash bar studs take most of the load.

How seriously do you plan to winch from the rear? Have you purchased sufficient 4/0-gauge wiring ($$$) to run power from the battery to the rear hitch?

What is the reason people call the front frame cross member a “crash bar”? It sounds like a derogatory term. The bit of research I did on it suggested that Toyota and ARB consider it a frame cross member.

The tidbit from ARB said that they think that their front bumper is ok to winch from but not snatch from, so they offer their 17k pound recovery point in addition to the bumper. The recovery point reuses the stock tow hook attachment point on the front cross member but also adds an attachment further back on the frame horns. My guess for the added attachment point is for added strength when not snatching straight forward.

My conclusion was that the front cross member is fine for recoveries that don’t exceed 8-10k pounds or thereabouts.

My most extreme personal experience is being buried in partly frozen mud up to the frame so bad that my hi-lift was unable to lift the truck and being tugged out by a 20k winch by the OR tow hook without any issue.

^You've taken the plastic bumper cover off your truck at some point, right? The crash bar is the aluminum beam that bolts to the 6 studs with two aluminum "boxes". The 4x hitch receiver mounts to the frame in lieu of the two aluminum boxes. The crash bar then goes in front of the receiver:

Look again how high up the hitch is vs. the crossmember. If you're pulling on the hitch, the six studs take all the pulling load:

How's it holding up for you? I'm highly interested in this setup as well! Just wish I had the tools to fabricate.
