Another company in town requires coming in 2-3 days/wk. My friend worked for them, but moved to a western state. No longer employed by them since couldn't come in 2-3/wk. Got to look at it as you get to work from home 2 days a week. Work from work six days a week has been the way forever. Not hard to find a study showing WFW is more productive than WFH. Not hard to realize data at home is Waaay more likely to be overseen by non-employees than on a desk in the company office. Data privacy, efficiency, lots of reasons to keep employees in the cocoon. Lots of reasons to allow WFH, but them that take the risks get to make the rules, not the worker bees.

 

I'm glad I lack the ability to appreciate a shiny new kitchen. My 1974 kitchen keeps working & not renovating it 2 or 3 times since then is a lot of money & hassle avoided. Now it's classic instead of just old. Just seems to me - new isn't as well made as old, new looks "of a time ago" every 10 years. But I say all that knowing 'it's a me thing'. I think this is the 3rd kitchen reno in this thread in 2 years, plus endless friends who's done the same recently.

Maybe it's all the granite I saw trashed when working at the family business back in the day. People would reno the kitchen for resale including the latest granite. New owners would rip out the ugly kitchen & "I can't live with that granite for even 1 day" counters, only to be replaced with granite that is 1 shade different.

Time for Fluid Filming to begin season.
It's disappointing no mechanic ever suggested it to me. If not for Tacomaworld I never would have had a clue there was an option to avoid all that rust.

 

It's been working on the Prius. Clear triangle of death & I'm good until the interior gets hot or I lead foot it.
Going to have to dig in & inspect for corrosion on the bus bars.

 

The new open area of the kitchen thanks to knocking down the wall definitely makes the upstairs look bigger and brighter.

The new dining room table is very "simple" which I like, because to me furniture should be that; simple and to serve it's purpose.

Honestly, I think the house was fine the way it was but you know what they say... happy wife, happy life. Not so sure about that though.

 

The title of this thread is appropriate for me today. We replaced the rear auto leveling air shocks with a Monroe coilover kit to delete the auto level, attempted to change the stuck parking brake cable, changed the oil and helped wash my son's car (my old commuter) yesterday. He's not very mechanically inclined but he does his best to help. He did a nice job steel wooling all the brake dust off the wheels though. Then since all the stuff was out I changed the oil on the wife's Civic too. Now there's not enough 0W20 left on the shelf to do the oil on my Tacoma. F&#k me. LOL! Gotta admit it looks good for 22 years old and 170K on it.

Why do I get these cars all the time?

 

Went for my usual bike ride at an unusual time today. Put in my 7 & felt the tanks were pretty full, so did it again. Nuno, you can laugh. The legs are good after 14 miles, the back is unable to stand straight. knew I should have walked the last 3.5 miles. Dang.

Going to a different ortho place this Friday morning.

I want a 2nd opinion and someone at work (yeah, one of those stupid days I had to be in the office last week) recommended a local place after her and I were talking, and somehow back stuff came up.

So going to go there, bring my MRI disk, tell and explain to them everything and see what they say.

 

True, though some are better at home by the numbers. I think it's case by case honestly. Some people abuse the privilege, others don't. I myself see it as such and appreciate the balance it has given me.

I did mine over 2015, but it was 40 something years old and showing..floors were sagging and worn, no insulation, wiring was shot, etc..
