I recently rented from Hertz in the Portland, OR airport. I was pleasantly surprised to get the keys to a 2019 TRD OR 4x4. I had never seen a Tacoma for rent before and they had quite a few to choose from all TRD OR.

I flew into Orange County last week and had a rental with National. They had a Barcelona Red OR too. I was shocked. Had to snag it to compare it to mine. I'm definitely spoiled with mine compared to stock now, ha.

If I have the choice, I always avoid renting cars I've had before... never miss an opportunity to try something new.

Hertz has a ton of Tacomas out here in the Midwest.

It's crazy what they're renting these days. I walked into get a rental and they handed me the keys to brand new, still being backed off the the truck Jaguar s type SUV. Literally still had plastic on the floors.

Much better than a boring Chevy Cruze.

I had one of those about 7 years ago in NC. It was a complete base model piece of crap, but fun to drive and could fit anywhere.

    I don’t think I would rent one.
Especially if I had to do a lot of driving....between 75-85mph....with the cruise control on :bananadead:

I wish I had more variety. National and Avis both tend to use a bunch of the same vehicles. I do try for something new when its available. Hell, I had a 3 week stretch where I had nothing but new Camaro's. Hard tops and convertibles. Fun at first, then it just gets old.

Thats the only real complaint I have about my truck...it’s totally NOT a highway cruiser. Being a TRD OR truck, I’m not sure it’s right to even expect it to be. As long as I’m not in a hurry, set the cruise at 70 and roll along just fine.

Once you get over 70 with the cruise on you’re done tho.
I can do 80 without the cruise in 6th @ 2200rpm the whole time. But 30 sec after you set the cruise, it kicks back down to 5th @ 3500rpm and stays there forever.
Not a deal breaker, but when you’re on long trips in places where the speed limit is 75, it’s super fkn annoying.

Avis rents 2019 Tacoma’s with the TRD OR package and 4x4. Rent one for the weekend and trash it off road!
