Toyota publishes the width of the 4th gen Tacoma without mirrors, but nowhere on the Toyota website, nor on any other website, is the overall outside mirror to mirror width specification given. Using a Perplexity AI search, only a guesstimate of 79-80 inches is given for this dimension. An accurate measurement might be useful to people wanting to know how a Tacoma might fit through an 8-foot, or slightly smaller garage door opening.

Using a string and plumb bob, and help from my son, we made reasonably accurate markings on the ground with the plumb bob from the outside of each mirror.

The overall width with mirrors extended normally was 86 9/16 inches.

BTW, the overall width for the Tundra with mirrors was 97 5/16 inches.

Just roll down both front windows and stick a good tape measure from one mirror to the other.
    One man job.

Yup. But we were at the dealership which was closed on a Sunday doing measurements. Best we could do. Getting ready to order or select one.

If your Tacoma has MTM (multi-terrain monitor), in MTM mode the blue lines that are parallel to the full side views are supposed to be calibrated to be 10" on either side from the body (which should just clear the mirrors). This was explained by a Toyota person in one of TheTopher (YouTube content creator) videos. See 8m25-8m40 in this video:

The toyota person seems to imply (slightly before the above start point) that you have to be in 4L for this screen with the full side views to come up in MTM. I don't think that's true based on other videos I've seen but maybe someone with a TRD-ORP could confirm.

That's exactly 3" wider than my 2d gen.

I wonder what it takes to throw the calibration off?
