I got a set of ss3 pro ditch lights but I’ve run into a problem. They came with a 4pin conector with 4 wire sticking out. Red,black, blue and yellow. Unfortunately they didn’t come with a full wiring harness. Question is,
What do the blue and yellow wires do? I’m hiking these up to my aux beam switch panel buss box and I am not sure if I even need to make a harness for the yellow and blue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I ordered my SS3 pro ditch lights from hotshotoffroad and they came with a nice loomed wire harness that I was able to trim down and connect to an Auxbeam AR-800.

You might contact @memario1214 to see if he could sell you a harness. He had a post explaining how to wire these that I used, but I can't find it.

Anyway, I ran both positive (red wires) to the same 20amp connection and the blue wires to a single 5amp connection in the AR-800. Blue is your backlight and doesn't draw much power. I don't think yellow was used as that was for if you intended to use a separate toggle switch.

Run your black ground wire to a grounding point outside of the Auxbeam. The fender bolt works well if you've got a ring terminal connection.

You could make that work with some cutting and splicing. If you're using the Auxbeam all you need is red, black and blue. You won't use the fuse on the red battery connection or the yellow wire. That red along with the red at the switch would be combined into a 20amp auxbeam connection, the blue would go to a 5amp auxbeam connection and the black battery connection to the fender ground bolt with a ring terminal. The toggle switch would be cut off.

Mine was slightly different, included a relay and had this loom material. (appears to be the same harness you linked)

    https://www.diodedynamics.com/light-duty-dual-output-4-pin-wiring-harness.html

Although, I cut the relay off along with a bunch of excess wire and crimped together what I needed to make it work. If you're using the auxbeam all you need is red, black and blue.

Might be easier to get some of your own wire, loom, crimps and terminals than cutting and splicing an existing harness. You'll need some crimps and a ring terminal if you buy a harness to modify.

    Double check with @memario1214

Basically a red wire from each SS3 combined to a 20amp Auxbeam connection, a blue wire from each SS3 combined to a 5amp Auxbeam connection and a black wire from each SS3 combined and connected with a ring terminal bolted to the fender bolt.

20 amps? Oh dang. I’ve been running my current ones on the 5 amp connection. Lol

I forget the power draw specs of the backlit ss3 pros, but I believe it fell between the 10amp and 20amp fuse rating. Hence use the larger 20amp fuse. The backlight doesn't draw hardly anything (I think .4v or something like that) hence using the 5amp fuse for the blue wire backlight function.

Yeah I e been using the 5 with no issues.
SS3 pros state 2.7 amps draw. The backlight would is 30ma. I’ll use the positive on the terminal over for that backlight. Two fuses for one set of ditch lights . I got room.

I might just move em over to the 10 and use the backlight one on the 5. At least they’ll be stacked inside the cab in the panel. I like the aux beam panel but that light barely shines thru the decal. It makes it hard to read

I'm terribly sorry for the delayed reply here! Thanks for the tag @MGMDesertTaco

@310TacoMan310 are the SS3s that you have backlit? Assuming yes, but want to just double check our work.

As for the wiring - Here's your pinout - Red is power (+) - Black is ground (-) - Blue is backlight - Yellow will be unused. The yellow allows for different functions. None of which the SS3 in its current spec employs.

Take the red wire from the passenger's side, extend it, and meet it up with the red wire from the driver's side somewhere under the hood. Then, take those wires that are now married up, and attach them to one of your terminals on the Auxbeam panel. You will need at least a 10A circuit as a pair of SS3 pros pulls 5.4A. For the black wires, you can ground them anywhere you would like underhood. You can bring them together and find a central point for them to ground, or you can ground them independently. The blue wire just needs positive source to function the backlight. You can put them on another switch, you can tie them into the parking circuit/DRL/etc, or you can just not hook them up at all if you don't want them!

If you want a little cleaner look, you can pick up that harness that you linked from our site. You would cut the harness apart where they make their first junction and just use the pieces out of it. It will eliminate a lot of bulk that you'd otherwise have poking out since you'll be able to eliminate butt connectors/soldering at the ends of those short pigtails.

I ended up ordering a wiring harness. I appreciate your help. Thank you for the reply. Well actually I do have one question. Can I change the 5amp fuse in the aux beam to a 10amp. Or are they in a certain spot for a reason? I would basically just be switching the 5 for the 10 and the 10 for the 5. So the overall system would still be the same. Just kinda want that switching to be in a certain location in the switch panel inside.

    Too much to list
Remember this.. as long as you upgrade your fuses and circuit breaker, you have a pretty large variance of what lights you’re able to run.
