    Hello Tacomaworld!

My truck has always had this connector dangling from the right side of the front bumper.
(By always, I mean about 18 months and after already 230+ thousand miles and two (three?) previous owners)
I finally took a look at the washer fluid reservoir and partially solved the mystery of the dangling connector.

There appear to be two pumps. The inside pump is connected to that dangling connector by two wires (see attached). The connector has two more wires that have been cut. The inside pump's fluid tube is also cut, dangling, and sealed with a wood screw.

The outside pump seems to be wired correctly and functions almost adequately.

Under the bumper on the other side of the wheel well, there are two cut wires that seem to match those cut from the connector (see attached). However, I have no idea what that connector was supposed to plug in to.

Could someone give me an overview of what it's supposed to look like down there? I've looked at a few different wiring schematics and they all seem to abbreviate that particular spot.

    Thanks,
    Matt

Are you sure one is not a low level indicator? I never knew there to be 2 pumps.

I'm not at all sure. But they look identical and why would the level sensor have a hose?

Attached close ups of maybe-a-pump on the inside and the outside pump, respectively.

Any chance that is not the original resivior? This just doesn't look quite right.

Oddly enough, 1st Gen resisivirs are falling apart. This almost looks like something from a much newer Toyota.

I'm betting the second pump is for the rear widow washer.

I'm convinced. Did a Google image search for 8531504060, nothing looked like mine at all.
And that theory explains why none of the wiring diagrams helped.
My taco's PO was both dangerously incompetent and surprisingly ingenuitive.

Do you think the pair of cut wires coming from upstream are for the level sensor?

I was thinking maybe 4Runner the older ones had a separate system in the back.

On your Tacoma you would only use one pump so I venture one set of pump wires is cut

More than likely. Seems Toyota threw a dart to decide what Tacoma's got that level sensor.

Most extends cab srs trucks had the level sensor but it was hit or miss with the standard cab trucks.

That’s NOT a Tacoma wiper tank,
Two pumps, one for the windshield one for the rear wiper.
Tacoma looks like this low sensor on the bottom.

Wire each pump to one sprayer. Blast that windshield clean.

This was a newer tank I bought that had a OEM low level sensor, old one didn’t have one, so I had to use the aftermarket market style float sensor before, yes that fitting is for the methonal going to the methonal pump and then to the intake tube nozzle.
The windshield pump and hose all stay the same as stock otherwise
