Rim width really isn't a factor in tire buying. Pick a set that you like that fits your wheel well and wheels and you're good to go.

Check the sticker in your door, I have a sport but it says the wheels are 17x7.5

    Wut?

So the tire spec sheets list minimum, recommended, maximum wheel widths because?

You can virtually put any tire on any wheel as long as the rim diameters are the same. Haven't you seen the hella flush kids?

Yes I have. All being several slots under me on the leaderboard in Solo II.

Just because it can be done doesn't mean it should be.

OP asked a legit question; it's good to know what you are working with. Not just toss on whatever.

Alright, stock wheel width is either for the Tacoma 7 or 7.5 inches depending on trim package. Manufactures typically advise going no more than 1-1.5 inches over/under wheel vs. inside tire width.

I put on a set of Fuel Trophy 17x8.5 -6 with Nitto Terra Grappler G2 265/70R17

With stock suspension this is the largest you can go without rubbing. On my truck I left the air dam on and I'm about 1/2" away with the tires. The tire/wheel package sits farther out than stock and the tires do not stick out farther than the fender - the outside edge of the tire lines up with the outside of the fender ... pretty nice look too.

Nice!..I was wondering if I went with a 17x8 or 8.5 wheel and 265/70 17 tire it would stick out of the fender or rub on stock suspension.

So would you agree its safe to say stock 265/65-17 will fit on a 17x8 trd or FN rim on a stock height 16 TRD sport? With no rubbing issues?

I was looking at the same thing with the fn fxpro wheels 17x8 with but with 265/70 17. I'm assuming it will be fine from bobrown14 setup.
