I have a 2020 access cab, I'm not sure what head unit is used?
I've been reading as much as possible about speakers for the Tacoma.

Right now I have in my cart some Subaru tweeter or DS18s but I'm having a hard time finding 6×9s

Are you also upgrading the rear speakers?
I'm not looking to add a amp...

    Thanks

    Would these work good?

The 6x9s you linked “would” work, but “should” they? Cramming those in the doors would give you 6 - that’s right - 6 tweeters up front. Two in the dash and two on each speaker. That’s music “comin’ in HOT!!” Lots of treble. Ideally you want to get componant speakers, which have a 6x9 and tweeter set for each door. The other option is a componant 6 1/2” set as well. Crutchfield will have what you need, including all adapters and harnesses. Call them to find out what works for you.

6x9 vs 6.5, what sounds best?

Depends on who you ask. Me, I prefer the midbass “pop” of a 6x9. I’ve had Hertz 6.5” and Morel 6x9 as my most recent. Some say the sound wave is distorted from a 6x9 because of the oblong shape, can’t say I’ve noticed that though.

Crutchfield has a 60-day return policy(I think), so you could buy one of each and see for yourself which YOU like better. Double check the policy though before ordering.

All of these aftermarket offerings will make a difference but these speakers will be starving for more power. You'll want an amp to get the most out of it.

You'll want mid/mid bass for the doors 6x9 and 6.5s will work.

Powerbass makes a decent drop in for the doors. They're dual voice coils so you can wire them to 2 ohms and you'll match the impedance of your factory speakers.

I also had 3.5 infinity REFs up top that sounded decent. These are a 3 ohm speaker and will be more efficient than the 4 ohm offerings available.

But the biggest crutch with be the factory headunit or running an amp to them to truly enjoy the most out of them. They just don't output enough and have weird EQs that catered to factory speakers.

I've since upgraded to a full Focal Flax 2 way component and they're amped at 120 watts rms. It's been glorious.
