So I’m looking to get some KC lights to mount on my front bumper. Mostly for when I go out to the desert camping. What do you guys recommend Driving? Spot? Wide-40? Please help!

Those lights are an excellent choice in terms of performance and color. But pattern will depend on use case. Are you doing very high speed off road desert runs? Or something else where maximum distance is needed at the cost of small illumination area? Then spot might be best. Needing extra highway distance illumination, providing extended distance illumination (not as far as spot) while balancing larger area illumination? Then driving patten may be a better fit. Need a slow speed wide area coverage, best for off road and wide area situational awareness? Then the wide pattern may be best.

The best pattern for your use case will depend on what you are trying to achieve with your lights.

No high speed Baja stuff or anything, just mostly long dark roads in the desert or even mountain roads. I have a fear of some animal jumping out in front of me when I’m in the middle of nowhere and I just want some more light to help my nerves. So I’m guessing the driving would suit me best? Thanks for the help!

Both. I use spot for long distance vision and the dotch pods for peripheral.

Driving will be best for spotting wildlife far ahead on long distance roads, but for short range kamakazi wildlife, a wide beam will illuminate the sides better in near proximity.
