My husband was replacibg my battery and upon connecting the positive terminal the alternator (120A) fuse blew. I ran and got another fuse... again blew. What could be the cause?! How can we trouble shoot?!

Maybe..just maybe he attached the negative first then the positive closing the circuit...
I remove battery by disconnecting the negative first then the positive.
When I install the battery, I connect the positive first then the negative...but that's just me.

He actually did the negative then the positive as his usually way... could that be an issue? How?

Thank you for responding!!! I need all the help I can get! :)

It doesn't matter which you hook up 1st. The problem is that he hooked up the battery backwards.

Our batteries are a "F" the and the + and - are backwards from a standard battery. Are you sure the - post is next to the fender?

That’s a big fuse to blow without any fireworks/sparks.

Check to see if alternator is shorted or a wire burnt there, might be that, then check battery polarity and voltage.

The negative post has a - next to it. The negative cable attaches to the body.

We verified polarity immediately after and we were hooked up right.... however we just replaced the connects to the battery wires and after a lot of discussion, we think he did them backwards... so yeah it is probably all jacked up... we will be figuring it out in the morning.... and yes there were sparks! Ha..... I may be hitting you guys up tomorrow as well! Any suggestions for what we have in store?

Hopefully it's just the popped fuse and maybe a new battery.

Hopefully the fuse prevented further damage.

Ok, got a new fuse and battery, corrected the connectors to the battery. Small miracle the truck started and will go into gear but the “throttle” will not work, pressing the gas pedal does nothing... any suggestions?

You are going to have to chase more fuses and relays. Do you have a wiring diagram?
